  1. Bob, Saladin disc brakes are known for leaking. Andy (who will no doubt be along at some point) changes at least some of the seals each year. Chris
  2. I want to know why someone who's been researching Foxes in service during the 80's has painted one a colour it wouldn't have been painted in at that time? :???
  3. These are about the best out there... http://www.tankograd.com/cms/website.php?id=/en/index/publikationen/british_spezial.htm Chris
  4. Robin, It's not a hard job, you should be able to get them swapped over in a day. The oil pipes and water hose from the heat exchanger to the bulkhead need to be fitted to the replacement engine before fitting as you can't fit them once it's in. I usually cable tie the oil hose to the engine near the carb to keep it out of the way before fitting, it also helps to have them all lined up in the right place so they don't get trapped between the sump and the hull. The hardest job is getting the bolt in the back corner near the exhaust back in afterwards. The fuse should be fitted on a bracket near the coil, I think it's a standard fuse, but most of my engines haven't got one fitted. Do you still need a master switch box? Chris
  5. I don't know Robin, more weight up high in a Fox doesn't seem too sensible to me! :nut:
  6. One way to loosen the plugs is to lightly tap the collar round using a screwdriver or drift and a mallet.
  7. Wayne, It's a large multi pin plug. Unscrew the collar and it should come off. See photo of alternator below. Chris
  8. Wayne, You don't need to take the generator panel apart, just un do the large plugs! I've replaced these panels and alternators before, and you don't need to open anything up. Chris
  9. Wayne, Just undo the cable from both ends, the large plugs should come off quite easily. Chris
  10. Bracket Assy, Support, Canvas Roof - LV9ASC/2510-99-815-6289 - FV51515
  11. There are 2 different filter units, the Stormer one has a differnet element number stamped on the case, without the part number I can't tell which one that is.
  12. Robin, The filter element part no. will be stamped on the unit, but I suspect it's a 270-L-110A. Maybe Dan knows for sure? Chris
  13. Starting to look a bit more full now. We've given up trying to keep it clean for the time being, where it is stored is like the Somme at the moment! When the weather gets better I've take it to bits and give it a thorough clean. Chris
  14. Carl, Is it the fuel shut off soleniod (in the red circle) which you are having to push in to start the engine? Chris
  15. Hi Carl, Welcome to the forum - I hope my old 432s are both still running ok Chris
  16. Robin, The bracket by the back door is for the cable reel. How many holes in the spare sprocket carrier compared with those on the vehicle? Stormer final drives are different to CVRT ones. Chris
  17. They would have been gloss deep bronze green when they left the factory, but that would have been painted over quite quickly.
  18. Robin, I think I'd just call it a Stormer. They have a unique DMC (9STM) for the Stormer specific bits. I have seen Stormer articles in Kit! magazine under the heading Stormer, HVM and CVR(T), so I think you can call it what you like really! Chris
  19. Its has 12Ys in it, which are the recommended plugs. The 13Ps caused problems with burning the pistons.
  20. Tim, ABRO Stirling did the stripping before they went to Withams, sich as Messier dampers, optics etc. All of ours went through there. I have a copy of the job card for 03FD84, they stripped 170 of them! Chris
  21. Not updated this for a bit, so here's a quick update. The Sabre is alive. Here's a video of it sounding like a 432... We've since fitted an exhaust, I have a new silencer to go on it but I will fit the new exhaust heat shield material and paint it first. The drivers bulkhead is fitted now, along with the controls. We are currently finising of the wiring and electrics to get it roadworthy. We can then drive it home ready for the paint and cosmetics. We also have good take off wheels, track, sprockets, dampers etc ready to fit. Still looking for a no. 52 gunners sight, if anyone can help! Chris
