  1. You are quite right. "It happened here". An unusual film which left me feeling a little uncomfortable, but there we go. I presume the Jagd Panther came from Bovington?
  2. Yes, Hell Drivers it was. The GPW is marked us with the company name "Hawletts" across the windscreen. When we acquired our Jeep I now wish I had painted up as this one before fully restoring it. It would have been fun and different.
  3. Yes, I agree. A brilliant idea for a topic. I am sure when these things were all made no one ever said people will be collecting these in 40 years time. At least the speed trailers have a use. The concept of collecting railway baggage trolley numbers does seem pointless, but collecting the trolleys themselves seems quite a reasonable concept. At Dallas today a saw kit bag hasp and thought they would be a good thing to collect as in fact many people do, but you have to draw the line somewhere.
  4. Just cleared my cookies and that seemed to do it.
  5. Would anybody like to have a guess at identifying the movie. Any thoughts or comments on the Jeep involved?
  6. I cant get photobucket to work. I am not able to see anything which I have uploaded, nor can I upload anything. Anybody else have this problem? Is there a good alternative to photobucket? Thanks Tim
  7. I am not very good with ambulances. Alan is your man. Does look like a Sunbeam though.
  8. last one I saw for sale was about £700. Sold mine a few weeks previously for £300. Bad timing eh?
  9. With all the knowledgeable people on here I am sure someone would have worked it out in the end. Several early Saurers survive but I think that is the only ex WD IMC built one.
  10. Nice try, but it is a licence built Saurer by IMC.
  11. The steel chassis is in remarkable condition. I think it was of much better quality than the WW2 stuff we see. Not four wheel drive. Keep trying.
  12. Now here is a rare one. Unique in fact. I think it is the only “survivor” of this model. It was recovered from under a holiday chalet in Devon some years ago and is now on its way to Holland. There are not enough bits to restore it, but you never know, they might turn up. It will be very difficult to guess what it is, but does anybody want to have a go? I will give you a clue. Made in the USA for the WD. To make it easier, it is not a Packard, Peerless, Pierce Arrow, Locomobile or Mack. That narrows it down a bit. Alan, I am sure you will know?
  13. And given a coat of Primer prior to final painting.
  14. Spot-facing completed! The Brake Drums were offered up to the wheels and bolted down.
  15. The Brake Drums were finally completed yesterday with the holes for fixing bolts to the wheels “spot-faced” using Steve’s home made Spot Facer to do the job. A slow speed is needed for this job and the Minor Mill was used for this as the slowest speed on the Bench Drill was not slow enough.
  16. The morning after the night before: Some interesting unrestored vehicles: Favourite take home from the show would be this: Over here: Now, over there: I can see the sea from up here:
  17. I know. It is a big show ground. Depends where you were camping I suppose. Being on the ring road I saw this one on two days.
  18. Just got home. Totally exhausted after spending a night under canvas while the most torrential rain I have ever seen came down and of course some happy soul firing off flares and other pyros at 2 in the morning didn't help. I have been told, and have little to verify this that trading standards, Police, EOD, HMRC and military Police had a very visible presence. Fuel tanks were dipped looking for red diesel, items were taken off stalls and the serial numbers of certain weapons were checked against reported stolen ones. I saw real MP's looking very happy with themselves and the bomb squad van stuck in the mud. (I took some photos). It has been alleged that someone in the N**A got caught out with some red diesel. I am sure the truth will out soon.
  19. How much will this make. Rons Holt 75 went up for auction a few years ago but didn't make the reserve. I expect it will end up in New Zealand judging by the way WW1 vintage vehicles are going. http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/huge_and_historic_collection_of_vintage_tractors_to_go_under_the_hammer_1_4158203
  20. That would explain the rad protector on the front. Thanks
  21. Not military but I rather liked this Fordson Some interesting exhibits in the museum Judge Dredd Land Rover taxi Skyfall Land Rover Back to the Future De Lorean Not MV related but quite interesting. While my daughter was watching the ducks (geese), they were suddenly chased off by a fish. This fish (carp?) then came right up to the edge of the lake and watched us intently I presume waiting to be fed. Great big thing he was:
  22. For this years “Old Ford Day” at Gaydon Motor heritage Centre we were invited to bring along any ex-military Ford vehicles. This was later extended to include any military vehicles and we had about 25 in all attend which we were very pleased with. Some came from great distances (thank you Robert). The event was a great success and here are some photos of the day:
