  1. My pioneer was built in 1945 and it has no name cast in the radiator or any Gardner name cast in the inspection plates on the engine
  2. When is was used as a snow plough, as the top speed is only 15 mph would the snow not fall faster behind it than it was being cleared in front of it?:shake::-D:-D:-D

Built 1952? as 14 ft wheelbase 6x4 tractor w/winch sold 1972 to Grampian council converted to 6x6 using parts from an accident damaged 0860 militant ,used in the western isles until late 1980s ,sold at adt auction peterborough to Paul Harwin March Cambs restored as flat bed lorry, sold at Donington Auctions 1990 to Hathern boat services and then sold to David Crouch Kibworth ,was going to Bongoland to haul away the rainforest:argh: but bought by me and converted to winch tractor :-D

  6. There is no comparison the Pioneer with no power assisted steering ,no door tops , and hand operated crane winch is a real mans motor and must not be confused with the Explorer with all its post war modifications, whatever were they thinking trying to make a national servicemans life easier.

  8. According to the magazine article(POLICE WANTED VEHICLES WEEKLY) it was taken in Driffield town centre the owner being recorded as Nick Finch .?
  9. Found this picture recently , it shows a douglas timber tractor parked facing oncoming traffic , on double yellow lines on the approach to a pedestrian crossing .Anyone know who,s it is ? . Surely this is not the image we want to give out to joe public about vintage vehicles .

  15. The cat weighs around 10 tons .we loaded it using the scammells winch with a snatch block 2 to 1 ratio as the cat slips on the steel ramps . Scammell weighs 10 ton ,cat weighs 10 ton ,trailer weighs 41/2 ton 24 ton gross weight . Only 102 BHP but still managed to get into top gear and reached almost 24 mph at one point! Scammell was used by Royal Engineers in Palestine 1947 to move engineering supplies and plant still doing the same job 62 years later .SCAMMELL THE LEGEND LIVES ON
