  1. Will owners of matadors which look like a douglas also be able to enter the douglas timber tractor gathering at rushden ? if not im not playing anymore :cry:
  2. they dont belong to me, nephew james has bought bcs 960 the pye douglas with the leyland 400 in, the rear body has been dismantled so that bit needs rebuilding but the rest of it is very good . the george walker douglas is a running chassis with the cab scuttle remaining so needs a bit of work joe has found this one ,perhaps a douglas tractor gathering could be in the pipeline for rushden 2011?

My brother bought the scammell amazon from the bnfl site at sellafield it was never registered on the road and had never left the site until we collected it . it was badged as an amazon and the handbook drivers manual all stated amazon within the text .it also had cr100 within the handbook, the staff at bnfl would not know anything about it being a cr100 amazon crusader or whatever so the name amazon must have been used by scammell

I visited hunts yard several times as my father operated a low loader and moved quite a few motors for joe most of these were jones KL 55 cranes i was always interested in old motors and the yard was a good place to view ex military vehicles . We bought an AEC Mammoth Minor from the yard which my father completely restored this was bought as the yard was being cleared and many motors were being cut up when we recovered the aec the front winch rollers on my scammell pioneer were salvaged at this time ,if only we had lots of money an storage space at the time lots of others could have been saved

Hello dave i was once a recy mech and my nephew is currently serving as a recy mech with the R A , you served between 65 and 75 you must have some interesting stories ,and which vehicles did you operate real stories of scammells aecs leylands etc are priceless, keep trying with the computer if a chain dragger like me can do it then anyone can cheers ben
  9. I was on my way back from london this afternoon travelling on the m1 northbound and was almost overtaken by the redbull sugga , i say almost as it expired along side me at 56 mph then pulled in to the hardshoulder . does the sugga run on modern running gear or is it original ?
  10. They are made by trewhella rolfe st smethwick birmingham they are used to shorten a winch rope or sling and are part of the kit that comes with the trewhella monkey winch

The owner of these vehicles lives in a fantasy world of his own with some very strange ideas on vehicle restoration, the Scammell artic was bought by him in immaculate condition it was delivered to his yard then driven across a waterlogged field until it got stuck that was 8 years ago and it still stands in it same spot :nut:. A matador was bought in very good restored condition on driving into the site it slipped off the road onto its side into the hedge it also still lives in this position after 7 years !:cry: i could air my views about owner but will not do so as jack would ban me for life
  18. I bought a trailer at the weekend from a farm in buckinghamshire amongst the vehicles there was a Napier solid tyred lorry chassis minus any drivetrain except rear axle diff anyone interested ? mail me for info Ben (np timber )

The thornycroft came from dave crouch it was used by redland aggregates at brampton nr huntingdon it was a lw vass convertion to a recovery vehicle it is owned by my nephew who is a recy mech in the R.E.M.E so he gets payed to operate fodens and man wreckers :Dand then drives his thornycroft at weekends !!:nut: He is currently in the process of restoring it .

The Scammell Pioneer belongs to me the Thorneycroft big ben is my nephews and the AEC militant mk3 belongs to my brother ,the GMC with workshop body belongs to a friend it refused to play on monday afternoon so was taken home on suspended tow behind the pioneer the traffic build up behind on the way home was amazing !
