  1. The trouble is, it is only an ornament and £10k is a lot of money to have sitting around - plus you need a very big garden!

I knew an awful lot of the history of the aircraft and it only needed the APU and 2 RB199s and it would have run, it was stored in a GAS for 12 years and had no corrosion. Space was the issue though, that and pulling the wing pins.

  2. You may have to be more specific as Pintle refers to a lot of different mounts. The basic pintle is the small piece that bolts to the .50 M2 or the .30 1917 to 1919 series (and M60). Then there's the 1917A1 mount usually seen on the 1917a1 tripod but is also fitted to the pedestal mount and with a different attachment spigot fitted to Halftracks and Tanks (Stuart?). Then there's the 30/50 cradle mount for the M31 or the M23 etc.

    take a look here

  3. I had a look at these on the Joes Motor Pool stand at Stoneleigh and I was very impressed with the look and Quality. I think the average jeep fan like me wouldn't know the difference and only the real die hard jeep fan would know. I can't say how well it performs but on the owners Facebook page he does show the pre production item running flawlessly. I'm considering buying one as a spare to take on long journeys just in case.

  4. Not sure what you mean by 'old spec' in relation to a Gimpy.

Thats where things get interesting. If it is an inert example like the Russian AKs that Russ militaristia sold then I think they are classed as inert replicas and therefor fall under the term realistic firearm and be covered by the VCR bill.

  5. I hope you have deep pockets and do your research. There are Supposedly GPMGs out there complete with poor markings but they are in fact Indian FN, US M240, scrap L7 & 8 parts and mixtures of everything else. In the time I've been looking I think ive seen 2 true British GPMG.

  6. No, they are looking at the semaphore flicking it out when someone gets to close.

It was actually a secret weapon for close proximity self defense. :-D

It it looks like your almost right. It's a large punt gun and the trigger is wired to the signal arm so the driver can fire it with little movement of his hands. Ideal for those road blocks manned by the Germans impersonating MPs.

  7. It sounds like the FEO isn't against the idea, he just wants to make further enquiries which is fair enough. You may find it beneficial to do some of the leg work yourself. Ring a few other counties and ask how they approach the matter and you can politely inform him of what you find. He could quite possibly to busy to bother reasearching himself so if you can provide him with details of another authority then you've made it easy for him.

  8. Right I've just put a deposit a 1942 willys MB in quite rough condition this does not worry me what worries me is the chassis ID plate has perished and fallen off from corrosion leaving only the rivets behind It has the dash plate and it's mostly original is the chassis ID the same as the tub? will I have problems when it comes to registering it with the dvla? Any help would be appreciated

Dont quote me on this as I'm a GPW guy but I think the tub number is different to the frame number but the number on the ID plate I think is the chassis number and not the body number.
