ArtistsRifles
Folks, A friend of ours went to get his medals out today ready for the Remembrance day Parade - and found they had been stolen. Apparently his son left the house open whilst popping out for a few moments in August and they were the victim of a walk-in robbery. It is assumed the medals went during this crime. The police have been informed & have issued a crime number but say there is not much else they can do. So - I thought I'd put the descriptions up on HMVF in case some comes across them in their travels around the militaria shows. Whats missing are: British Empire Medal: civilian ribbon -- that doesn't have the stripe in the middle -- the others came through the service General Service Medal (Arabian bar): United Nations Medal (Kuwait): Saudi Arabia Liberation of Kuwait: Kuwait Liberation Medal (Bronze Class): The name engraved around the edge is Flt Lt Haynes M A R.A.F -apart from the BEM which just had M A Haynes on it. If any one sees these can you please notify Kettering police. The gentleman has contacted the Bigbury Mint to get them replaced but it's costing him £345 plus all the grief. Not what a pensioner needs in this day and age!!!
