antarmike Posted August 6, 2008 Share Posted August 6, 2008 The RAF had formed out of the Army's Royal Flying Corps and the Royal Navy Flying Service on the 1st April but a little over 4 months down the line and inter service rivalry plumbed new depths when the Army and Navy refused to let the Air Force use their officer ranks. From this day the Airforce had to introduce its own ranks such as Pilot Officer, Flight Lieutenant etc. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
