Hooks or mount for Norwegian 13 litre insulated containers

Hi all,

I've always wondered if the two recesses on the Norwegian 13 litre insulated containers is to clip on to a mounting bracket or something.

Would anyone have a manual, information sheet, or anything for these, please?

According to the design company, 

"The bracket section on these 13 litre containers were used with carrying straps along with a back-pack cage effect structure in which Soldiers were meant to carry on their backs.  I never had the pleasure, thankfully, in using these in training and it wasn’t long after the mid to late 80’s the 18-litre superseded these….thankfully without the ability to be carried on your back!"
