Steam cleaner, any good?

These steam cleaners being advertised on the tele. Are they any good for cleaning small items like carbs, or degreasing under gearboxes etc.?

Anyone any experience of them?

I've got one. It was brought for use in the house but wasn't that great so I "borrowed" it.

It's actually quite good, especially for cleaning around engine bit's before doing any work on them.

And for £20 you can't go wrong really. 8-)

Richard. That's what I wanted to hear. We bought a large one for wallpaper stripping & cleaning around the house. It got fired up once but was a big fiddle to get set up & never got used, like so many "good ideas" one sees advertised. I'll get one of the little ones, should be less messy than degreasant which goes everywhere especially when under the vehicle it runs down your sleeves & I end up rolling in it.

I have one i use on my bike engines... its does seem to do a good job but i also cover it in gunk first...

 

o and done buy the 2nd one it looks like a moomin...
