ploughman
This event was planned to take place in may this year but I have just read an article in the latest Heritage Railway mag that says it may be relocated to the Nene Valley Railway near Peterborough. This is due to the redevelopment of Long Marston into a building site. No mention yet on the website. Celebrating 100 years of the Royal Engineers, Railway Operating Division at the Long Marston Military Railway (LMMR). This event will display the skills and equipment from this unique army division which helped the allies win two world wars and save countless lives. Railway equipment incuding locomotives will be demonstrated. Not to be missed, is the opportunity to see LMMR's impressive, USA supplied, S160 second world war utility steam locomotive More than 600 of this type were supplied to the UK on lease/lend to boost allied logistics. Only a handful now survive worldwide. http://www.trainofevents.co.uk/pages/military-railfest-2015.html
