43GPW98036
I recently acquired a motor-pool restored 1943 Ford GPW - 98036. The story is that this GPW saw action in the Pacific - GUAM and in 1949 a LCDR brought it home to California and remained the sole owner till his death in 2000 (copy of original 1949 title supports this). His estate sold the jeep in 2010 and was restored by an individual from Illinois who in turn sold it to me in 2014. This has an unusual hood marking denoting USAAF service (see attached pre-restoration photos). I have been browsing older forum postings and saw several on USAAF jeep markings but nothing similar to this one, thought of sharing this detail. The restored GPW has the "winged" star. By the way this one rolled off the Louisville (KY) Assembly Plant on 16 FEB 1943. Edited September 20, 2014 by 43GPW98036 Add more INFO. paul_bish
welcome on board. That hood looks great, almost worth hanging on the wall as art!
