bowie
getting a bit baffled about options for jeep tyres, think I want Bargrip, but where can I get some cheap? Bowie :?:
whistlinwolf
Check out the classifieds section , Spartacus has some bar grips, look good and the price is right as well. Tim(1)
oddball
While we are on the subject of tyres, I have been thinking of changing mine to bargrips (on block treads at the moment) I've heard tell that bargrips don't grip as well in the mud, has anyone done the dirty stuff with both types & can say which is better? whistlinwolf
We have had fun off road with Bar grips and found them good, they are lousy on winter tarmac though as my ditch finding excursion is testament to. Tim(1)
bowie
thanks Whislinwolf & Oddball, now much better informed, and in contact with Spartacus. Does anybody make a radial tyre that looks like a bargrip crssply?
oddball
in contact with Spartacus. Glad you've managed to find Spartacus, no one else has yet
demon
I don't think anyone makes a radial bar grip. The Norweigns use a good tyre for their jeeps, I drove on them in the snow when I was over there, they perform really well.
oddball
Looks interesting, do you know what make they are?
demon
No but I can ring Frank later and find out.....
Karoshi
For pure low speed Off-Road ability, I'd stay with the Bar Grips personally. However for wet weather steering control on Tarmac, use anything else! I trailled a jeep for some years, bargrips only bettered by dumpers. Anyways the Tyre Police will 'av you with a WW2 looking jeep on anything but Bar grips.
oddball
Anyways the Tyre Police will 'av you with a WW2 looking jeep on anything but Bar grips. Personally I don't pay too much attention to them, not getting stuck in a swamp in the middle of nowhere is more important.
Karoshi
Yeah right. BIG problem in urban Newbury.
oddball
Lot of places to get stuck around here I can tell you & that's not just when the traffic lights stop working on the Robin Hood roundabout either!
demon
Looks interesting, do you know what make they are? I've just got an email back from Frank the Viking about those tyres. They were first made by Askim gummivare fabrikk in Norway, and later the same pattern was made by Vredestein. They are not available in Norway anymore  . demon
Is that a La Maltournee jeep. Looks like there was a small data plate on the top left corner of your glove box. Do you have this plate?
oddball
Why are you selling the jerry cans & wire cutter then? Better to keep them surely?
