Redditch in Wartime

Help Needed?

Redditch Local History Society, in conjunction with Forge Mill Needle Museum, are staging a major 'Redditch in Wartime' event over a period of eight weeks in March and April 2011. The event will cover the involvement of Redditch, and Redditch people, during the Second World War over the period 1939 to 1945.

The whole event will be themed with topics such as the Home Front, Redditch Industry in wartime, Redditch people in wartime and the victory celebrations. It will include exhibitions, related talks & presentation and two one-day events, the second celebrating the end of the war. The events to be held at the Forge Mill site.

This event is being organised by Redditch people, about Redditch people for Redditch people and so the RLHS will welcome involvement from individuals and other local groups and societies who wishes to be involved and have a topic which they would like to prepare and present.

In particular, we are looking for some WWII vehicles for static display on the 26th March and 1st May

If you can help, or would like to be involved in the event in any way please contact me as below or my colleague Anthony Green on 01527 61434 or email via

We are looking forward to hearing from you and to your input to a successful and memorable event.
