Thanks for that, Sean! Steve tells me this morning that in fact, the Thorny one was made of steel and was not similar to the Dennis one - so we shall have to tackle this one differently![QUOTE=Sean N;483173]Papier mache? Would be easy to do, easily mouldable and if made with the right glue and sealed would be just as resistant and mechanically strong. You could make up some bucks out of dowel or tube which you could arrange so they could be pulled apart to get them out of the finished tube. Alternatively, plastic pipe cut and glued - you could use filler to reproduce any curves etc. and might be able to flare it by warming and moulding gently? More difficult to paint though.Tony
Could the original tube simply have been a 1 1/8" OD steel tube with the end flared?

You could try contacting Bruce Crompton, he obviously knows the collector you want to contact:-

There is no mention of these bikes or frame numbers anywhere as far as my investigation has found.
This is the BSA frame dating from the old bike museum which lists only para bikes.
Have you tried this forum for help with dating the frames?

Try removing the spurious "Nave" from the end of the link - there's some track from Mr Galliers.
Andy
No idea where "Nave" come from, as I only copied and pasted the link.

Signed as well, up to 177 now
I don't think that 177 signatures are going to save the pillbox.

but I still don't get how it will carry on sucking the fuel up & keep running ?
I'm missing the plot here please tell me
Is the fuel not simply being sucked into the carb by the venture effect.
Have you tried a temporary fuel supply to see if the problem is in the carb or the fuel tank/fuel line?

I have seen ads on that well known auction site for these, and I know people were looking at using them in 6 volt positive ground applications ( WW2 dodge )
The e-bay ad for the 6v units specifically states the same bulb will run positive OR negative ground. I know LEDs are quite voltage tolerant, but polarity intolerant without a rectifier - wonder how they can use the same bulb for both polarities?
Some bulbs are polarity sensitive and some are bi-polarity.
Another supplier of LED bulbs and flasher units:-

Signed.
Not a lot of signatures, only 133 at 16.00hrs today.

Thanks for that, my trawl through the DVLA site suggested that it no longer existed ! If you know the owner perhaps you could ask them whether they might like a photo or two as it was when I dragged it out of the orchard complete with wrecker jib installed. I acquired it in Worcestershire, has it moved far ? Cheers.
It is on the DVLA site:-
Vehicle make - DODGE
Date of first registration - February 1947
Year of manufacture - 1947
Cylinder capacity (cc) - 3569 cc
Tax due today

If you still have the old battery, this thread is worth reading:-
http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?51084-Hawker-UK6TNMF-Batteries
I found the quote below on:-
http://forum.militarylightweight.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=2654
"The Hawker UK6TNMF's dimensions have not changed since the original UK6TN spec was issued in '73/4". So a more modern battery maybe easier to find.

Even if the engine is out of warranty time wise, I would take it back to the rebuilder or at least speak to him before taking it apart.

Some of the members of Defence Electronics History Society are also collectors of radios, so maybe worth contacting.
Have you tried The Vintage & Military Vintage Radio Society?

Have looked at filling the scratches? This is one product that I found (but I haven't used it) when I searched "fill scratches in aluminium".
