  1. There doesn't seem to be one for FWD's, as far as I can see anyway. The main reason for starting this is that I was reading the ads section in the Classic & Vintage Commercials magazine last night and stumbled across the following advert:

    'AMERICAN SUCOE FWD 1942,

£1,500 ONO. 4x4 truck, reg CBN 189, originally petrol new 5LW Gardner diesel. Later used in showland. Needs restoration. North Nottinghamshire.'

Now they don't come up for sale that often and I was wondering if anyone knew of this one. If there already is an FWD gallery then please merge this post into it MODS.

In the meantime please see below a couple of pictures from the War & Peace Revival below.

  2. My dad has just returned from Malta, whilst he was on the island he spotted this lurking behind the wall. Unfortunately couldn't get any closer to identify it. Could it be a Coles Crane perhaps? It could of course be something civi, however thought it would still be of interest. Over to you guys!

  3. How about this for a spot then :D I was watching Permission Impossible: Britain's Planners last week and noticed a familiar looking vehicle when they were filming, if you look closely at 1.40 mins on this link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b03x19tb/Permission_Impossible_Britains_Planners_Episode_2/ you will see what I believe is a Pioneer. They don't go on to talk about it or anything, so does anyone know where it may be?

  4. Welcome Steve. I concur with Dave, having stopped at Chateau Martragny in 2009 we will be doing so again this year. The only problem you may have is finding a place. We booked up at the turn of the year and had one of the last spots for the week by all accounts. However it's more than worth a try in ringing up as you never know. Otherwise no doubt the other options will be just as good.

There are a few stopping here http://www.chateau-martragny.com/index.htm?lang=en , if you ring up they are English that run the site ask for Sue , nice site we've stopped there everytime we go and that's been for the last 28yr , this year we are with the IMPS up at Port un Bessin supposed to be a nice spot , try there as there will be a good number of MV's on this site.

  5. Hi Scott my name is Bob.

I was at the sale and came home with the Austin K2 and a Dennis No 2 pump.

All now running and very low cost by MV standards.

Now just looking forward to the good weather.

I agree with Dave, this is a lovely place to stay. Although we do camp.

We stopped here in 2009 and they've sorted us out again for 2014.

  7. Amazing what is out there and you just don't know it! Used to drive past that recycling place at least a couple of times a year over the lest decade or so when on the way to the Great Dorset Steam Fair and back. Thanks for sharing the pictures Robin.

  8. they will have been at the ranges and camps near Otterburn, just up the A68 from Gateshead

Thanks for the information Gordon, certainly seemed like a big exercise judging by the kit on show.

  9. Travelling north to Gateshead yesterday from Staffordshire there were a number of convoys of military vehicles coming south. There must have been seven different convoys with anything from four to ten vehicles in each. The last lot were all coaches with Belgium flags on them so I can only presume they were the Belgium Army and had been on a training exercise somewhere up north. Anyone know anymore?

Here are a few (bad) pictures which I took from our coach whilst heading the other way.

  10. Hows about MFF487 caught up with it at the Great Dorset Steam Fair in about 2004 have seen and heard nothing of it since. In RAF Blue with 71MU badges on the doors. I used to drive it round the camp and go out as second man with it in the 70,s. The owner kindly let me have a drive but i havent seen it since.

That be this one, from the 2004 show. Excuse the poor quality, it was very early days of digital photography!

  11. "FROM SWORDS TO PLOUGHSHARES The modern version of beating swords into ploughshares can be seen on Mr J Birt's farm at Prestbury, Gos. He has bought a QUAD, and uses it as a tractor"

A Guy Ant Quad at that as well. A pretty rare vehicle I thought after a good number were lost at Dunkirk.

  12. Hi Scott,

I think this was done in the UK. B282 was the code for a contractor to the Ministry of Supply, they could be garages or manufacturers service depots. If it were an army workshop a code for that establishment would be used. I think SPR could relate to something like "Specified Repair", which was a term used in army workshops. The plate shows it having a civilian number so it may not have been in military service at the time of that repair, possibly another government department.

    regards, Richard

Thanks for that Richard. They say you learn something new every day and this proves the point! :-D:tup::

  13. Hi Scott, are you going to make it up to the 2014 Rally? you and your dad have been missing the past couple...:D

Maybe Steve, I know we've been a bit lax recently however this has mainly been down to other clashes. Where is it in 2014? I'll get onto my dad :D.

Sorry for hijacking the thread! Looking forward to more pictures.

  14. So, got the brass plates for the vehicles sorted out. Dom went on a shopping spree today and bought a selection of parts (thanks to Alex and Jon). Going to speak to Jon Walker tomorrow and get any gaskets and such I can ordered. While the chassis is at the sandblaster a our attention will turn to the mechanics.

so, on the repair plate it has a code of SPR in 1953. Anyone know what this means?

I've seen something similar on another Humber 'Box'. I think it means it was overhauled in Singapore in September 1953, however I could be completely wrong! Looking forward to seeing this thread develop.
