  1. The Armoured 110's used in NI had Sailsbury front axles too. Could have been Snatch or what was before them? Memory is a bit fuzzy this morning. But i remember the advert from Blanchards breaking them for spares.

ENV axles were used on the later FC's such as this one i picked up for someone over the weekend.

  2. Been removing the glass and needle gunning the cab of the Stolly and we have found this marking on both sides of the cab.

Any ideas on its meaning? It looks like it has been over painted ontop of a previous but same marking. Also it has a patch of red oxide paint under each of the sliding side windows that isnt present anywhere else on the cab. Looks as if something has been removed or sanded back then a quick coat of primer before re-painting in Green?

    Any suggestions on either welcome.

    Cheers

  3. Thanks for the answers. I happened to end up in helfrauds yesterday and they had some nice led lamps that were rechargable. I will collar our Ring guy next time he is in the shop and see what they can offer. Should be handy for the back of the truck and as a work lamp for breakdowns.

  4. I need a source of light in the back of the 101 and was thinking of mounting a penthouse type lamp on one of the hood sticks. Whats the going rate for these? There are some on ebay but prices seem a bit steep. Also they all seem to be 24v and the 101 is 12v, is the bulb available in a easily sourced 12v type?

    Cheers

    Jon.

  5. I am going to base mine on a Forward repair team wagon. This has a bunk at the front and storage chests which make it great for use at shows and other weekends away.

The crane on the second one looks like its only to pick up the draw bar. So it should be able to tow the 4 ton limit the 101 was designed for (yep i know 3.5 ton on the road unless fitted with additional brake systems for the pedantics here.) The Crane in the second pic is up for sale. :cool2: It has been removed from the original 101.

From memory the one with the side mounted crane is one of two that was used for light dutys like engine and gear boxes on Landrovers? That has support legs under the side of the crane to stop it listing over with a load on the hook.

  6. Yep they look to small but they are the only readily available off the shelf tyre we have available that will fit on the 101's narrow rim. We had some 8 inch wide 6 stud rims made in a small batch which soon sold and we cant get any more made.

  7. The only current tyre we have available is slightly smaller than the original 900x16. Its a 255/85r16 Bf Mud. Looks a bit too small on a GS but will work well offroad. :-D I am currently annoying our buyer as there is a company in Holland that can supply remoulds in the same pattern as the curent army Michelins but as yet he wont listen.
