  1. Had a great time at the show and well done to all involved at pulling out the stops to make it great weekend. The Alvis guys put on a cracking display and the line up of all the CVRT variants was great. Would have been good to see more on the move, if your short of drivers throw us the keys. :cheesy:

The blisters from hauling chains around the arena are going down now, Dave needs to grease the chain tensioners if its going to be repeted again. :D The missus loved getting the chance to drive teh Drops on sunday while Grumpy and me dragged the exploded CVRT about.

Plenty of ideas for next year, bigger better more.

  2. I did something similar in my 101, based on a Reme fitters truck i had a picture of.

Simple angle frame that drops into the load bed and a sheet of 18mm marine ply on top. Loads of out of sight storage space underneath in ammo boxes. Handy when you have the tilt sides rolled up. I can sleep across it if on my own, or i add an extra ply section between the rear wheel arches supported on a storage box if the other half is with me and we sleep length ways. Probably takes 5 mins to remove and back to a normal Gs.

Robbing old caravans is good for extras like fridges and cookers. I boxed up a caravan fridge again in treated ply for weather protection and it normally rides in the sankey with a gas bottle for ease of use, or i chuck it in the 101 and put it by the side once setting up camp.

  3. Got to have a play with Robs modified Praga Truck. Its being built for trialing and yet more modifications are planned after the weekends testing/playing. Comments on approach angles, correct ditch crossing procedure etc are more than welcome but not needed as all drivers are either nutters or experienced offroad drivers. :nut:

  4. Its a bit of fun that i look forward to each year. The Scammells never fail to impress and the last couple of years we have followed with big Fodens and just used the canes as a guide as we have no hope of following the Scammells due to the size difference and turning circle. It shows the spectators just what the trucks can really do rather than driving over a couple of smooth bumps in the main arena.

Yes this years was a bit disorganized and i think one of the marshals should have got the Berliet pulled out sooner as the failed shunts went on for far to long.

Long may it continue and thanks to all the people who help out.

  5. Nice looking 101 Mark, Cant beat the exhaust note. Love mine to bits.

Engine oil in the engine, gearbox and transfer box. Ep90 for the diffs, swivel housings and steering box.

Best thing to fit if you can find one is an overdrive from a Rangerover classic. Makes crusing speed alot more enjoyable and helps spread the gearing when used as a spliter on hills.

  6. Unfortantley Mud rails will be useless in a Ltwt. Ltwt seat backs hang off the rear bulkhead so cannot be moved back which is why they are so cramped. The best bet is a S3 109 as these have the bulkhead further back so the seat has more room to move back and rails could be used to move them further back still.
