  1. Our first Vintage vehicle day went off in the best possible way with around 400 bikes and other vehicles in attendance including a nice military contingant and the best weather of the year, still a little bit lobster!

Anyway here are some pics, more to follow.

It was also the first showing of our newest Military vehicle a 1944 Trusty Tractor previously used on a RAF base near Bath, here is a picture of my sister taking it out for a ride, hopefully will look good with my sister and my Fiance in Womens Land Army gear.

  2. Great pictures Clive that was a really interesting weekend not sure Sarah was too keen getting on the top of the thresher though, but she tells everyone she speaks to about it so thanks for the opportunity. She still has Andrea's contact details so hopefully can catch up at least at Beltring.

    Cheers Steve

  3. My Fiance joined in with Nell's Belles at a couple of shows last year with some uniform she picked up from one of the other Belles' husbands who runs a company called 'stand up, hook up 1941' Dennis' WLA stuff was spot on so that could be a source if anyone needs any?

Here is a pic of my fiance driving a 1919 austin tractor I renovated a few years ago for Shuttleworth in her WLA garb.

  4. I've learnt something new I had always believed they were all 12 volts just shows everyday's a school day. Thankyou for all your help I think I'd better start cleaning all the connections up, what is best for reprotecting the electrical connections I have access to various water dispelling sprays like LPS3 or AV25 through work.

  5. Probably an easy one but I have put a new battery on our WC54 after inadvertantly leaving the blackout lights on  and now the motor turns over, we have a good spark from the plugs and recent fuel in the tank and it will not fire, any ideas? I'm stumped and don't want to kill the new battery already!

  6. I have been also asked to post this up in case anyone fancies a quiet relaxed show in Bedfordshire, that is just starting up. It is open to more than military vehicles and so please tell your friends, and includes entrance to the collection of aircraft and vehicles, registration forms must be in by may 7th.

    Thankyou.

This will be the first time that the Shuttleworth Collection has hosted a vehicle orientated day for a number of years and we would like to establish this as an annual event. .

It is planned to create a garden party atmosphere with all the participants parked on the display field, allowing people to view the visiting vehicles. .

Drivers of pre-registered vehicles will enjoy free access to the event along with their vehicle. Admission prices for additional adults will be £10 each, but accompanied children aged under 16 will be free, making this an excellent family day out..

Entry to the event will include access to the hangars to see our world famous collection of aircraft and vehicles.

  7. We have a couple of those doing the rounds over here.

Probably the ones Spnater was starting.

These pics were taken at Old Warden 5 July 2009

Yep those are the ones, 001 is a pre-production/prototype with electric start:) when it works :-(, the other is a regular PT-22 and they are both privately owned but based at The Shuttleworth Collection and put on a good pairs routine.

    P.s. Good pics

  8. We had this happen to our jeep a few years ago, someone firebombed the unit next to my uncles workshop where we had just finished restoring the jeep (literally he put the tilt up and left at 11, was called back by 3) I know that jeep parts are more easily available but burnt out doesn't mean lost. Jeep won best jeep in show at W&P two years later. Sympathy with all involved just glad no-one was hurt.

  9. I've been asked by the trustee's of the Shuttleworth Collection to post this up and ask for your help to make the day even more impressive for the visitors.

Some of you have been to the collection before and know what a unique site it is with airworthy edwardian era aircraft mixing with some of the heavier metal of the second world war. We have a selection of homebased ww2 vehicles, including my family's GPW, WC54, and the Collection's WOT 2, BSA M20's and we are aiming to have a gathering of other military vehicles to supplement the air display.

It is hoped that as part of the display we will have a Dakota landing on, this will be the largest aircraft we have had on the ground at one of our shows and should look bloody impressive on our small grass airfield.

Hope to see many of you there, any questions feel free to ask.

  10. The damage doesn't look too bad, pretty simple frame and stringer repairs with not bad access but trying to either get replacement frame sections or repair angles manufactured and fitted will be the expensive bit, not to mention chuffing cold doing the repair outside at the moment. Good luck to the restore-ers but its a shame it will slow them down on restoring the rest of the airframe. Great pics by the way.

  11. Goldfinger, I have been going to Beltring for several years now and this year I could not fault the NLBA's behaviour compared to previous years, we camp halfway down the field near the water tower and we didn't get any disturbance apart from the cadets who camped next to us, and that was resolved by simply talking to them and advising them that generators after 11 isn't a good idea.

I think in general everybodies behaviour was a lot better, with far less kids tearing about on scooters but I think this is due to a lot of the kids actually being more grown up and the price of fuel rather than control being put on them.
