Typical British design then "all parts are interchangeable" except the ones that break regularly:D haha, and bugger I've got a stillage full of Saracen bevel boxes, are they compatible with Saladin then?
how much for a left rear bevel box I might be in the market for the right price or a pair?

The Op is a Lady I believe and a little out of her depth..
-
I think the op is actually after guidance on the transmission fault due to lack of cash rather than morale...
just my take

Stalwart brake calipers are the same as fox.
But I've refurbished all mine with seals and pistons from banisters.
I've tried a few Saracen and Saladin parts and the stollies are bigger.( wanna buy some Saracen drag links?)
I have managed to get bearings to replace all the damaged ones in my drive train so far, including bevel gearbox ones and input pinion. None of it was particularly hard just need big tools and time.
I did have a lead on some new Center bevel boxes in crates but withams bought them and around 100 shock absorbers
have not got to the bottom of that yet.
I presume you are on the stolly group on yahoo? they can help with some difficult bits.
My other main consumable is tracta joints and shafts all available through Bannisters but the price goes up every time.

I found water, emulsified oil or empty bevel boxes. the centralised lube system just dumped the oil into the hull through the front bevel box handbrake seals and various input pinion seals.
I have looked at various bevel box/ tracta fork pictures on the net and my forks seem to be damaged far worse than any others I've seen.
Its first private owner used to take her from kent to the lakes I can only presume that no maintenance was ever done.
The rear wheel station is back on without the tracta knuckle as the farmer wants the space its occupying for the summer .
Left rear bevel box is now a problem for future John.
The slide hammer was up to 30 lbs and hardly moving it when I called it game over.

Hi paul I replaced the brake hoses first... seems a lifetime ago and overhauled the calipers and over air system.
Next is 4 more input pinon oil seals and air compressor then the gearbox selector and shaft.
