I have a UK registered Mitsubishi GTO grey import which I exported to Europe with my work.
When I brought it back the Vat man wanted the vat of a fictitious value it created from thin air.
Now I could prove it had been in UK before with UK plates ,it had come from Europe so should be no duty. But I didn't have the paperwork for it arriving in UK the first time(previous owner).
the amount was £150
Tried challenging it with the AA legal team (waste of time) the general opinion was its such a small amount why are you bothered...
So I paid up and have the receipt this time.....
God knows how they valued it no pictures no visit just a demand in the post.

Found this site which has a lot of manuals from test kit ,diggers to apache helicopter repairs.
http://www.liberatedmanuals.com/all.mpl
one for Clive perhaps

Well that cleared that up. It just seemed a lot of effort.

Just playing devils advocate here.
If nobody knows what it looks like and it his been superseded :-
How will you KNOW its right
why was it replaced
who will care?

Had them long the batteries?
the previous owner bought them some time ago he did make a point of saying he looked after them.
there £100 each have a 2 year guarantee . I paid as much for a varta for my range rover which has been a right pain and replaced twice.
see if you can get a deal at a battery supplier but you wont get much change from £100 for a big battery.

My stalwart has 2 of these batteries . I have no complaints

just don't open them just in case.

the faces can be painted with radium I think it is . To glow in the dark
It poisoned the girls that used to paint them.

I would also consider approaching the Vulcan to the sky trust in case they have any use for them.

They are generic Aircraft instruments and will have many applications.
Please don't open them for a tinker/clean as they may have radio active dials.

So
is it only me that thinks Jeep prices have got a little out of hand?
After the celebrations this year 70th anniversary of many great WW2 achievements will the likes of ebay be awash with genuine Airborne jeeps going for a song?
What do you think?
Of course I'm only jealous I didn't think far enough ahead to buy one when they were cheap.

I read on a fire engine site that they start a head gasket leak between cylinders which if ignored leads to severe head damage. Any body found that or is there an unlimited supply of crate engines which people are just slinging in?

there's a stalwart on the yahoo group for sale at the moment and milweb and possibly Arran whiticar might have one to sell...

I do have the Wheeled ones but not the power ones. I shall search them out now I have the numbers.

Hello gents
My "spare " b81 is lying unceremoniously in the back of my "spare" Stalwart.
It was removed due to low power apparently by the previous owner.
Now I need to do something with this engine , the stalwart it came out of is not in the best of shape but neither is it beyond saving and if it I decide to save it then it will need a working engine.Likewise if it goes to the stalwart gods in the sky a spare working engine is nice to have for the other stolly.
Can you give me some pointers on where to get components and also what is the "usual" failures on these engines.
I have the Stalwart EMERs which have some engine details in but I do not have the Rolls Royce manual.
I see Marcus Glen has some head gaskets and have been impressed with the stock Bannisters hold and the last item he supplied (wheel stud) surprised me beyond words.
So in short the only thing I can guarantee is its painted sky blue and its lying in the back of the truck.
