The chieftain that was at ELVINGTON was a prototype the end user was to be in the middle east

when you say data plate do you mean a ministry of supply data plate with a post war number ie OO RA 27 or a contract plate ?
-
you are asking a question that dozens of owners of wartime built vehicles ask and sadly the honest answer to it is no you might get a bit more from the data plate but even so it will be not much

BRYAN as some one else on the FORUM found out he was told that they did not have the records for his vehicle in his case But after he then got back in touch they found the information l have no faith in the RLC MUSEUM because they cannot think out side the box unless it is on the computers they just stop
-
in the file on allocation of numbers 1945 -1949 is addressed to ministry of supply contracts dept CAXTON HOUSE { WEST } TOTHILL STREET SW1 it has thrown up a interesting number of things which will need referencing with the 1944 CHILWELL LIST the KEY CARD LIST and the new Chilwell list 1945 /1949 all l now have
-
l WOULD like to make a suggestion go back and ask the RLC museum about the railway squadron history ledgers these were at BEVERLEY they will hold the answers to your questions . Two ask the K&WVR if they took any of the railway records as BILL BLACK used to visit and get copies of the loco drawings and other items Three if these fail to help get in touch with the NATIONAL ARMY MUSEUM and ask where these item are or WHO has them. Sadly there were three people who could have given you chapter and verse on any thing to do with military railways Major tubby ROBINS chief instructor LONGMOOR and Staff basil SANDERSON the first person to drive RORKE'S DRIFT both shunting clouds god bless them and one other who was commandant at LONGMOOR

At this moment in time the answer is no l have reasons which l am not going into but have been touched on

CHRISTMAS came a bit early this afternoon a parcel arrived totally unexpected from a friend of over forty years who was in the military first a file of letters this is a copy l have deleted the the name who it was sent to but it also had a number of references to wartime motor cycles mainly contracts and manufacturers. There also was a Chilwell list of which l had a few pages before this covers the period 1945 to 1949 and continues from the well known 1944 it is a large document and from a quick glance answer some of the things that the 1944 CHILWELL does not explain or cover in depth

yours 13 BK 56 was recovered from GRANGE CAVERN by 119 COY REME based in PRESTATYN north WALES not to far from LIVERPOOL As to 30 BK 09 OR is that 27 BK 39 was the question but the reason for all the interest would have made a bloody good film ?
-
I checked the loans file for vehicles lent to the GRANGE CAVERN COLLECTION a number of vehicles were lent by the RCT via THE MUSEUM OF army transport including HUMBER PIGS the one that has the most interesting history is 30 BK 09 which in 1991 was the subject of great interest by the MOD
-
if it did once reside in the grange cavern collection it may be the one lent by the RCT HISTORIC COLLECTION is so then it did have a interesting history after it left grange cavern

l think its the wording in the exemption no substantial changes to chassis body and engine which may apply
-
The pins/clasps Call them what you will should push in and there should be a hole for the wire do this without the bulb fitted the bare wire can be soldered for better grip / reason for suggesting solder on the bare wire is to hold the strands together

When you say loading do you mean on to a trailer there may be one in the FVRDE FILES if my question seems daft l was once asked about shipping weight which l thought for loading on vessels but it turned that the person in question meant some thing different

strange as it seems some one else mentions the difference in ratios on the subject of ROTINOFFS on this forum in 2008 august in transporters and wreckers ANTARMIKE
-
all l know what l have read on the subject also l suggest that you ask in a more polite manner
- 1
-
As said both used KIRKSTALL axles but the ROTINOFF used a different ratio to that fitted on the ANTAR
-
RICHARD the middle and rear axles both suffered the same wear this happened at 7,000 miles the gear box failed at 2,000 the list is quite a long one
-
The wear reminds me of AUSTIN CHAMP crown wheel and pinions worn down to a razor edge

DAVID that is indeed sad news l got to know BILL first when we met and found that we had a connection with DALMUIR he with the CONQUEROR when he worked there and later when he became involved with the K&WVR and the need they had for railway plans and information to help with the restoration of rail equipment that was housed at BEVERLEY
