  1. now as i said my mate mark had decided he wanted a kuble (he was mainly an SS militaria collecter) he acquired parts from the aforementioned drag racing team, and several parts from the Chez republic

The vehicle is dated early 1944 so has been painted to represent the Normandy campaign

here is the guy who restored the vehicle driving it to the gatheringKublearrives.jpg

  2. Hi all,

  3. Hi all,

half heard this on the radio to -day that the European commision belive that the sound of gunfire during salutes i.e. 25 pdr. (or thier equivilents) have been deemed too loud and steps should be taken to quieten them down somewhat

I wonder if this would also affect those who take part in re enacting senario`s as they may be able to keep thier guns as long as they do not make `loud` bangs onlyquiet`ones `Food for thought

  4. Hi all,

next saturday 11/3/2006 i am attending a birthday party of a fried of mine. Not unusual you think  but on this day my mate wil have his kublewagen (which has been restored by his friend) officaly handed back as a restored vehicle instead of the trailer load of bits he originally had.

The guy who has done the restoration is bringing his schwimmwagen and as far as i know he intends to take it to water close by   if all is well i shall take the jeep along and i hope to get some photos of the event.

  5. Hi Matt,

i did watch and enjoy (?) this quite fasinating programe mainly due to the way these guys operate i.e the forenic investigator is only given the minimal amount of info of where the remains came from and thier supposed age.

Though we do things diffently here in the U.K. did you see the similar programe about the twenty or so 1WW brits found in the trench wit thier arms linked a short while ago, where they actually managed to trace a living relative. Very good programe

  6. Hi Tyler,

looks very nice indeed :D Tell me has the truck still got its "traficator" for turnig left or were these not fitted to Austins, it consisted of a lever fitted to the rear of the cab which when pulled activated o small arem out of the left hand side of the cab so the driver could `indicate` left when wanting to turn :!:

  7. Hi Tyler

the application of winter camoflage was quite prolific in the German and Russian armies (as needs dictated) as well as other armies,

as the winters on the Russian front really were a hell on earth.

Of course the winter of 1944 was also the worst (European) winter on record for years.

Most applications were of course carried out in whitewash of some discription so it could be removed in the spring.

The last picture you posted does not look very convincing to me and looks lke the museum had some left over paint from some where

though the two U.S. and the russian vehicles look quite convincing the last one (german) i think is particulary poor (JMO)
