I thought Indian straight away due to the ink stamp and have been told this off a different forum--
ww2 Italian prisoners of war , black diamond signified a supporter of musilini and therefore a political prisoner, ordinary Italian prisioners in belfast wore grey shirts but political ones wore the diamond on the back

I agree with Old Git about his comment(on books in general-dont own and havent seen this one on Denisons).
slating it, it's just that I was hoping for a bit more from it.
I own some very expensive books on various subjects,a lot billed as the best, must have etc and while I know no book will ever be perfect I cant help the feeling of being let down/dissapointed with a lot of them:cry:
Again, must add this is in NO WAY at all aimed at the Denison book;)

A question regarding Airborne helmets,we all know that some reenactors and airsofters try to convert RAC shells into Airborne ones but would the military ever do such a thing? Pretty sure I remember seeing somewhere an official Canadian? conversion.
Reason I ask is have recently bought what was described as a genuine post war Airborne helmet and when it arrived was surprised to see that the shell could well have been a RAC one as there are 2 holes either side where the chinstrap lug rivets appear to have been drilled out but there is no evidence of a hole where the top LTD stud would have been. It is fitted with a 1971 dated CWL liner.

Very nice.

Many Thanks for your comments.
Shame there is no label to give it a positive ID but nonetheless makes an interesting addition to the DPM collection.

Excellent.
Thought when the helmet arrived that it was only a smallish piece that was missing but on comparing to another seems that most of the sorbo is missing:-(:-(

Piece I need is roughly 17 inches long x1 inch thick x 1 1/2 inches wide.
Many Thanks

Any idea on the thickness required...? So I can check against what I have ?
Will see if I can get some rough measurements as soon as I can.
Many Thanks

No rush and if you have anything suitable that would be FANTASTIC.
Many Thanks

Anybody know of a supplier or source of the SORBO rubber as used in British Airborne helmet liners please or anybody have a spare piece?
