Para smocks were on issue right until DPM was phased out and are still a sought after item and now made in MTP by a few contractors but to my limited knowledge no longer an issue item but private purchase unofficial items.

As for the plastic zip on the one pictured,if it was an old smock,yes it could be a replacement but seeing as the smock is in such good condition,would bet that its the original zip.

No such thing as a 68 Patt Para Smock Im afraid and with that plastic zip would say very very late date wise.

Any ideas,purely commercial or foreign contract?

Dont know if they were issue of acquired but have period pics of some Paras during the Suez conflict and later 60s and they are wearing the SV boots and not Ammo boots.

Always led to believe that they were 2 different boots-the Commando SV and the Cold Weather?

Developed sometime during WW2 for Commands so Ive been led to believe and also used by Paras during the Suez Conflict.

It's the early issue of the 60 pattern smock......lined only down to the waist and with the earlier 50s style sleeve design with the underarm vents and rectangular elbow reinforcement.........these were made 61 - 64 when the sleeve design was vastly improved........

 

Early issues of this type between 61 - 63 had the lining in windproof gabardine, later issues 63-64 (and thereafter with the revised model) in cotton poplin..........so you can date reasonably accurately........

Post War Im afraid,70s or 80s?

Got amongst some other bits today a WRAF Jacket and skirt and as unfortunately I dont have a wife and am not the other way inclined is surplus to my needs if of any interest to anybody.

Havent paid much attention to any of the paperwork in all honesty:cool2::cool2:

Took a gamble on this and was chuffed that A. it was a WW2 tunic and B. what was in one of the pockets.

Post War Nato,Dutch or Belgian(cannot remember which one) worth about a fiver.

The waterproofs arent despite the description.

Not so sure about their Falklands Period Waterproofs.

A correctly shaped beret looks fantastic,very smart but the state of some of the berets I see and where the cap badges are is disgusting and like most "fashion" looks( I know civvy) like trs hanging around blokes ankles I personally think(apart from on the Paras) these stupidly shaped and stupidly worn berets look ridiculous and it should be stamped out.

If anybody is interested in it,the RAF cap can go.
