Didn't know if it may be of interest to someone. The small wheels and short drawbar do suggest airfield ops maybe, rather than road going use.

Something in the mist of memory tells me the engine was a Perkins Prima. Also fitted to Austin Maestro and Montego diesels.

It may be the way I'm looking at the Steyr, but there does appear to be the trademark canter on the back axles.

You're right, the 200 was simply a J4 with a bonnet later known as the LDV Pilot. The 300 became the LDV Convoy. I put a lot of miles on a mk1 Sherpa and loved it.
The Maxus is now back in production in China.

Thanks, I was rather thinking about the Mercs, but a six wheel Kubel? Can't recall seeing one of those.

Can anyone explain the six wheeled german staff cars? They really look superb, but was there a practical / engineering reason for the six wheels - or just an ego trip for the user?

Now I look again, the first pic posted appears to have the same wider spaced track arrangement. My '38 ag spec (or should that be hort spec?!) is used for ploughing so is set up in a narrow configuration. I believe - without looking at the book - there were four width settings achieved by various swapping of wheels side to side, inner hub to outer hub etc., in a vaguely similar way to adjusting the rear track of Fergie or Ford with GKN style wheels.
I've just noticed it seems to have a tray under the engine, the only one I've ever seen other than mine.

The carrier rollers, idler wheels and belt guard suggest a later version mg2, the main hubs look to be missing the outer castings. Shame the fuel tank casting is damaged, should be repairable though. Any makers or contract plates?

The truck in the auction had a Rolls engine, but what did the other truck have in it??? Had a very 'tasty' note to it.

The buyer of the DT turned up with another DT wrecker to collect it. Shame I didn't have time to stick around to see them try and get out of the yard. £7,500ish I think.
Don't know what the trolley made though, got too involved in a couple of burgers and missed it.
Please complete the National Historic Vehicle Survey to keep transport heritage on our roads.

What is it? How often do you use it? Valid queries.
Where is it kept? How is it secured? What's it worth? I wouldn't disclose that to anyone I didn't know.
