Hello all.
No real progress of late, as all efforts are concentrated on the Chevy restoration and family stuff. However, I was lucky enough to have a pair of headlamps pushed my way by a friend; not 100% correct style, but close enough, very pleased.
Only a small step forward, but a step in the right direction!

Rosco, I knew about Dennis retiring/selling up, but hadn't heard the company was continuing. Very good news.

My wife has a few ideas about this vehicle and tracks but it involves me and the bedford stranded on a level crossing.

Hi NOS,
not sure what the body in the second photo is, but I dont think it's a Chevy 1 1/2 tonner; the underbody detail looks different as well as practically no 'side steps' for want of a better description.
Really interseting photos none the less!

Richard,
as long as the price is right, buy it; they're a lovely truck!

No
Cab is similar, but I think the GMC cab has floor / firewall differences for the 270.
Bonnet the same, wings the same, grille different, engine side panels different, running boards different.
I have been told that the bonnets are similar but not identical, appararently the radius over the radiator is different! :nut:

How much engine, drivetrain and bodywork do these Chevs share with GMC CCKWs? if any
Cheers, Richard
Richard,
engines are different (Chev 235 cu in, Jimmy 270 cu in)
gearboxes different (Chev 4 speed, Jimmy 5 speed)
Transfer boxes are different.
Clutches are different also.
Rear axle specific to Chevs, but I think the front is the same as Jimmy fitted with Corporation (Banjo) axles
And thats just the start......... theres lots more!

Will deffo need that fuel tank G506 Captain and any mounting brackets etc etc ,give me a call on 07731314145 !!
Hi, just sent you a text. Nice to see you have genuine Chevy running boards; they're gold dust!
-
Interesting that you have the spring assisters above the rear leaf springs, normally fitted to Tippers and Tractor units (I think Pole Setters as well? Cant remember). I have a spare correct Chevy fuel tank if you need one?
Nice looking truck!

The ex. Sharp collection Napier was one of nine WW 1 period commercials found in undergrowth behind Beedon's garage in Northampton in 1963. Beedons ran a transport business along with buses and coaches and when no longer required some of the vehicles were 'put out to grass' behind the garage. There were six assorted A.E.C /Daimlers, one McCurd and two Napiers. The Sharp vehicle was bodied by John Mitchell in the early 1970s at the time he built several similar LGOC 'B' type bodies on modern chassis, the one at Beaulieu is one of these. The other Napier, a larger 3 ton in reasonably complete condition was sold at Stamford Hall rally in about 1965 and is still unrestored with the person who bought it at that time.
Richard Peskett.
Hi Richard,
I think I have spoken to the owner of the 3 tonner, hoping to pay him a visit later this year

I've always had a soft spot for Austin K6s and Leyland Retrievers; I shall follow this thread with great interest!

I've never tried starting a Ferret on a starting handle, but good advice when hand cranking any engine is never grip with your thumb; keep your thumb alongside your index finger.
Once had an engine kick back and break my wrist!

Jack - about the showers. I've had a look on www.bbc.co.uk/weather, they're always advertising showers on their forecasts, but for the life of me I can't see any BUY NOW button to click on :???

does anyone have a spare Munga rear light unit they would sell? Any condition as long as it's complete, or a lead on where I could track an NOS unit down?
