Not just a GMC fitment; somewhere I have a photo of a Chevy 1 1/2 ton cargo fitted with a 7 set towing a jeep across a shallow river.
Not sure if the 7 set would need to be modified in this case, as the Chevy rear body is 5ft 10 wide internally, narrower than a GMC.

Hope you had a good one.
P.S. Don't forget to return the Dancing Girls.
They have thrased half the clubhouse.
Thanks Enigma, great to meet you at A and E!

Good man, Jerry!
Are you mad - without question yes you are. But then so am I as this is a similar condition to my Chevy, and she's half way through the restoration now.
You've saved a rare old girl, thats the most important thing as far as Im concerned.
Good on ya, fella!

Will write some more once my head has stop being spinning....
But this is this is the first tank into Dorchester since WWII - this was truly historic....
Not many people would of been aware but I had tears running down my face - I was punching the air say WE HAD DONE IT!!!!!
Well done Mr Beckett, you and Kev achieved something amazing with this event. This photo could sum up the whole event, Sherman trundling into town, you punching the air. You did it.
Sincere thanks from us all

You were funny when you got back, like a kid on coca cola!!!!!!!!!!!! Glad you had fun, you guys were brilliant!
Hi Rosie,
I'm fairly sure it's actually illegal to that much fun in one day.
A day I will never forget as long as I live

Could us 'saddle tramps' have our own slogan, with the wording of;
''One of Jack's Dispatch Riders - I survived A&E (but only just)''

What about something based on the words of the great man himself when he spoke on Sunday.
A and E 2010
HMVF Liberation Of Dorchester
Or A and E 2010
We Liberated Dorchester
!!!!!

Firstly, Jack/Kev/Mark Hart/Dave H - What a weekend, thank you for all your blood, sweat and tears!
Some highlights from me;
Screaming down the outside of a row of armour on my Triumph to get to the next road junction needing blocking
Cider related hangovers not being too bad
Screaming down the outside of a row of armour on my Triumph to get to the next road junction needing blocking
Being stood on a bend of an otherwise empty road as 3 Shermans, 1 Hellcat and 1 Stuart flew past
Screaming down the outside of a row of armour on my Triumph to get to the next road junction needing blocking
Knowing someone else was cooking breakfast, and not me
Oh, and did I mention I had a fair bit of fun on my Triumph?
And another, meeting you lot, and being able to put faces to names and making a lot of new friends!

To BigRedOne,
was that you that had to anchor up in a hurry when the jerrican landed in the road in front of your jeep?
Good brakes mate!

Just want to say a very big thank you to the organisers for making Overlord 2010 the best show I have attended in a long time. Your hard work and effort went a very long way. I haven't been for over three years now and it felt like I hadn't been away, a very friendly welcome by all the organisers. Special thanks to Gary (sorry don't know is surname, always on a bike or in navy whites in the arena) and Mark Harvey for there help with loading of the gun etc.
Good to meet Rosie and the Cubed one. Great looking 105mm howitzer there Richard, I can see you have put a lot of work into it.
I couldn't believe the amount of interest I had from veterans and other exhibitors about the Gun and truck, it was non stop all day.
Spoke to a lot of the stall holders and they said they were very happy with the show. The amount of public on Sunday and Monday was outstanding,
The arena events and battle re-enactment were fantastic, a really mix and something for the whole family. At this rate I think your going to need a bigger field for next year.
Cant wait for 2011.
Thanks again
Hi Maverick,
glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for your hospitality on Saturday evening. We had a great time Sat night, apparently I had a great time Sunday evening as well, Mrs G506 tells me I was dancing like a funky chicken in the beer tent. Maybe the cider was a little stronger than I thought.............

Another fantastic show, we thoroughly enjoyed it (Mrs G506 was having such a good time she even decided we would stay an extra evening!), thanks to everyone for a great weekend

But dont fear we're not giving up on her, we think that we've sourced a second hand section that can be welded in and strenthened to make it good again, my brother has done this sort of work before on HGV's so we dont see this being to much of a problem but work on the chassis was not what we expected but I suppose she's nearly seventy years old so can be forgiven for being a bit ripe.
G506 It looks like we're going to be restoring our cab, finding a better one was a long shot, we'll have to see whats left after shotblasting
I'll post some pics up of the chassis tommorow.
Cheers Steve..
Good man! PM me with an idea of where the worst rot is on the cab, I may have some suggestions!

Pleased to see you are progressing. It depends on what type of tyres you want, NOS bar grips do turn up occasionally, usually in Europe but you have to be wary, due to age cracking is often a problem particularly on French made Uniroyals. New American imports by Omaha if I remember correctly were available recently from one of the Dutch dealers, you could get these brought over to Beltring I would think. Rex Ward brought in a container load from China a while ago, not bar grips but a reasonable tread pattern. A friend of mine bought some and he has been well pleased them. Another alternative would be Norwegian clover leaf pattern, these come up for private sale quite regularly and have a good reputation. Hope this helps you.
Steve/Degsy,
also available brand new are Koker (marked up as Firestones and practically identically to originals)

thanks
we've had a play last night and tonight and have managed to get her running and moving under her own steam even the winch is working
heres a rather bad video of her first start up
P.S we are looking for a better cab and body ours are very rough, we're not expecting a minter but something better than we have would be nice, any help would be much appreciated
thanks again Steve
Hi Steve,
why not have a go at repairing that cab? Not an easy job (as Ive found out on my Chevy) but you've nothing to lose!
Its good you have the spare wheel carrier, not an easy item to find.
I recommend Rex Ward for parts
Some videos from the back of a bike!!!!
