Ha, no. This one will be OD and marked as 391st BG, 9th USAAF
I'm now searching for a 1944 Chevrolet G7107 (G506 w/o winch) to go with my 353. I thought while I'm buying parts for it, I may aswell buy enough for 2! I have a lead on one in the US, but anything in Europe would be good!
Hiya Chris,
not sure if you are aware, but with regard to parts there are a lot of differences between Chevys and Jimmies, in fact it's a bit of a minefield at times
Of course the other problem is that once you have the Chevy, you'll want to sell the 'man's truck'
Hiding under the table, in readiness for the incoming barrage...............

Spot on, thank you Robert, I will have a look

I spent the final 5 months of last year in Libya with work, we visited the Roman ampitheatre they show, if memory serves this was where that Bedford MW was hijacked, at a place called Sabratha, open to the public to visit with no restrictions, incredible place.
I tried to find a copy of the film on ebay, with no success, anyone ever seen it on DVD?

This was taken in the mid-sixties, REME repair park
Its interesting that the Ford E4 (Commer Cabbed Ford) ambulance has an self defence anti aircraft frame on the cab hip ring.
I really need to get out more........... :help:
-
I'm sure I spotted an FWD HAR 1 in 'Dr Strangelove', but I dont have a copy to check if I remember correctly!

I think this CCKW and trailer, I am sure its a welding plant in the trailer, was owned by a IMP's member from Kent, he had a fireplace/chimmy business, and no he is not Father Christmas, but he had a beard. Your correct it was taken a good few years ago.
Im not 100% sure, but I think this welding plant was made by Hobart Brothers, I remember seeing it at Beltring

who`s chardonay ??
Ashley
Wasn't she the fit bird from Footballer's Wifes.................:nut:

It's a 1 1/2 ton Chevrolet 4X4 not a GMC
Yup, and judging by the shape of the grill and the Chevrolet script on the engine side panel, probably either '41 or '42
Very nice

I intend to be there on my m20 and will be happy to carry out convoy duty and have mentioned the event on the wdm20 website and I know several other bikes will be available for convoy control
Nigel
Also happy to help with convoy control on the Triumph :nut:

That was at Bagnoles in 1989. First outing for the QL. The other three....two belonged to Richard Beddall, and the other was Phil Bashall.
Nice one, thanks.
Hi Richard,
Bagnoles de Lorne, Normandy 1989, what a fantastic D Day tour!
-
Welcome Alan, nice truck
-
Thanks Guys,
Very interesting, I hadnt anticipated such a strong 'for' argument for Imperial. I did buy a set of imperial ring spanners today so its a step in the right direction.
Could someone post or pm some suppliers if possible so I can do some costings.
Cheers
Colt
Colt,
what part of the country are you in?

Colt,
I'm with Richard on this one, stick with what it's meant to have, and avoid metric at all costs. UNF and UNC are still readily available, but if you have problems tracking them down I can give you some supplier names.
-
Mark,
IDF used loads of captured vehicles, including T62, T54, ZIL 151 and 157 trucks, Walid armored cars (Egyptian), M113 (captured from Jordan), OT64, BTR50.
If you have a serious interest in Israeli vehicles, the book you need is 'Israeli Military Vehicles', by John Myszka, ISBN 0-646-36002-7, about 230 pages.

Glynn,
Just yesterday I was taking to the father of the owner of the IOW GS truck, the son is a very knowledgeable military Guy enthusiast. I live not far from them, and could probably make contact if you need me to
Glynn,
PM sent.
Cheers
