  1. Merlin,

    Going back to your bent N/S front wing, Ive got a spare second hand one, civvy spec but Im sure you could modify it! You're welcome to it if you want it, Mrs G506 works in Chichester and could drop it in to yours if you like.

    PM me if you're interested.

  2. Jack,

    that has just summed up the last 25 years for me!

    My two favourites;

    always buy Half track parts, I am indeed one of those people impressed by that kind of thing

    and the fact that restored parts do sometimes find their way indoors; I spent hours restoring the Chevy's dashboard just right, it now hangs up in the spare room because I dont want it getting scratched in the shed!

  3. This is my first post on the forum.

    Hopefully you will be able to get the chevvy finished soon, so that I can drive what I already think of as MY jeep (only joking!).

    Would be nice to get some of those parts out of the house/shed and into the vehicles though ...............

    Look busy, its the missus........

    guess thats me in trouble!

  4. I have a sankey trailer which i reckon is post war maybe early fifties.Does anyone know of any reference or info on these please.

    Many thanks

    Barry

    Hello Barry,

    can you post a picture?

    If not, a few questions that should help;

    Single piece or bolt together combat wheel rims?

    A frame towing bracket or straight bar?

    Towing eye adjustable for different height vehicles?

    Does the body have large stamped 'X' re-inforcement pressings (3 down each side)?

  5. Hi David,

    from what I understand, the most recent single piece repro rims are pretty good, these will be what I will go for. I did entertain the idea of tracking down originals, but decided brand new may be better, with less chance of warping, worn stud holes, etc.

    You are right that Hotchkiss rims are similar, but I want to get her 100% accurate if possible.

    Dont suppose anyone has a bulkhead filterette (with hinged door) spare? Slat grill owners - stop laughing !

  6. Any chance of some original numbers under the paint??

    Hi Jack

    The previous owner had a look but didnt find anything, I will have a go as well. If I do find original markings I will replicate them during the restoration, if I dont I will still be able to track it down to a very close USA number, as it has engine, chassis and body numbers.

  7. The radiator is missing or I am sure he would have done.

    I notice the nice wheels and tires. So its a wheels up retoration then:-D

    Mike

    Hi Mike,

    I believe the wheels are M38 but I'm not sure, The previous owner put new wheel rims and tyres on her not long after purchasing it, I think because the original tyres were totally ruined.

    I will be looking for the correct one piece rims, but the tyres should do ok!
