Lovely job Guy, its a credit to you well done so far.
Thanks Ian for the comment, how is it with your QL ? we are missing your restoration tread.
If I have no extra surprises on the QL I was thinking to bring him over for war and peace show!

Hello , the person I had my cargo body from has a ex RAF bedford QL. Started it's military service as a tanker but sadly lost it's tank section.
When I had a look around his truck the first different thinks that I so where the electrical cut out switch, the strange looking system for the spare tire and also the under pressure brake dial in to the cabin.
The cargo section on the pictures is home made!
Cut out switch.
ON the extreme right the under pressure dial

Bill I have a new old stock dial, the right hand one ( oil pressure and ampere meter).

Hello Richard and Bill, the best think for the moment is to know what Bill his QL chassis number really is.
And if we have a bit more information we can start to tray to find a solution for this problem!
It's up to you now Bill, send us some useful information that we can start to send you some right information, tray to find the chassis number on the place Richard and my have send you.
Start rubbing your chassis on the lift hand side just behind the suspension unit and have a look in front of the steering wheel.

It is not such a big deal to remove the cabin, on my project made a start to remove al the bolted on parts from the cabin.
Al the parts in the cabin, engine cover, driver and passenger floor boards and section under instruments. With these bits out of the way you can reach the radiator connections before removal of the radiator.
Then on the outside the doors, wheel arches, front radiator cover, windscreens and you can also take off the roof section.
The cabin is bolted to the chassis on the two front corners, and one on the rear of the cabin (you will find the two front corner bolts after removal of the radiator cover) .
Also have a look if there are now more electrical connections ( normally only 1 electrical connection in the driver side wheel arch) and earth leads between cabin and chassis.
It is really so easy to remove the cabin!

Hi Bill, Now it is clear that the chassis is longer than a original chassis.I just post the pictures of the extension that was used to extend a QL chassis at the back of a QLT with the spare wheel carrier attached on these extensions.
If you are in need of thees parts just let my know outer ways thees bits go for scrap!
Rear chassis extension.
Spare wheel carrier.

Thanks guy I'll get some more pics on tomorrow, the shame is that the chassis got lengthened by one foot for the body which is on now, but that's not a problem cut the chassis back to how they was and get the prop shaft re-balanced
Bill.
Be careful Bill with your chassis, most of thees models had a bolted on chassis extension on the back.
Just have good look and see if you can find the right information before you start cutting in the chassis rails:nono:
I will post some pictures of the bolted on chassis extension that I took of the office box.

Hello Bill, On my QL there are some data plates just in front of the steering wheel. One data plate has the chassis number on it and type, my lorry has QLR on it and this is the indication that it was fitted with a radio box.
The two petrol tanks with switch over tap on your QL are original mountings for a QLT (troop carrier) are QLC (chassis) these had sometimes a office body on the chassis.
The picture is of a QLC post war modification on the floor of a QLT. This truck is still fore sale not so far from where I live.
If you have a look under the chassis there still may be the extra dynamo with the lever for it in the cabin (3° lever is the one for the extra dynamo) if it was a office box, if not it is almost sure you have a trooper.
If you need the spare wheel carrier on the rear of the chassis then I still have one for free that I took of the rear section!

Super bill, welcome in the QL club. As I can see on the pictures it must have been a QLT (troop) model are a QLC (chassis). And if I can see well on your pictures it is a late model with the right hand side cabin removable section for air portable (just under the right hand windscreen).
Just have a look on the back of your chassis if it have the bolted on extensions, if so it is surely a ex trooper.
Is it possible that the floor on your cattle body is still the original floor?
What is your plan for the rear section?

Yes Bill, this last year the QL kept my really buzzy, looking forward to have the bedford back on the road.

Hello, don't be tempted to remove this section as the bolts break off so easy. But if you want to transport your cabin in a DC3 plain then you will need to remove this corner section;)
