Front part of the chassis is in paint, only the front part as I still need to weld some chassis bits back in.
And had a start to reassemble some bits that have been dealt with earlier this year, transfer box ,steering box and prop shaft.
Now I need to wait some weeks for the missing chassis parts as in July we go to collect the rear TEV box that I purchased some time ago, need to collect it on the other side of Belgium.
Maybe the bottom part of the cabin comes back from the blasters and then I can spend some time on this bit.

Hello Niels, how is the progress on your QL. It is some time that we sow postings on this subject?
This week I will paint my chassis and hopefully the under section of the cabin will come back from the sandblaster, some big work prospect for mext week:undecided:

A little change in program, after a good water high pressure clean decided not to have the frame completely sandblasted.
There is still a lot of original paint on the frame after all thees years, I will clean the frame with a wire brush and then paint the frame.
Frame on transport from the farm to my place.

Ian, what is the plan with your front windscreen frame's, I just want to ask because if you have thees made new I still have some bits left of mine that can come handy (the hinges and bottom lock).
Better to spare give thees parts to someone to can us thees bits, outer ways it will for scrap!
I can bring this some stuff to war and peace.

Hi Ian, yes you sometimes you can have some nasty surprises on the engine and gearbox work. So what's the plan with the gearbox, replace with second hand are rebuild? If it was my project I should be looking for a second hand gearbox as the cast lug will be difficult to repair.
I always want to have a look in the engine after this thing has been standing for a long period. The things that I mostly do is to remove the sump to clean the inside and have look at the bearings. The cylinder head is the next think to check and recondition.
Better to have a engine in tip top condition as ones the cabin is back over the engine it is a lot of work to replace engine bits because of the little space in the cabin and round the engine.
But this is only my humble opinion on this subject, and have the full confidence that you will walk tow this problem.

Little progress on the QL, waiting for the return of the under section of the cabin from the sandblaster and the chassis is also ready to blast.
On the pictures you can see that the rear cross member has some extra piece welded to it and that there is a centre section missing on the chassis.
The centre section has been cut to fit the crane on to the chassis after the Bedford its military service, these parts will be repaired with the sections that I have from my TEV rear body.
Al the remaining bits of the crane have been cut of from the chassis rails.
Next week there will be now match action in the workshop as I make a little trip to Normandy with my Triumph 3HW.

After weeks of cold wet weather we finaly managed to remove the QLs engine/gearbox today, now I can concentrate on finishing the rear body and get the chassis/body shotblasted & painted.
That's really a nice trailer to transport your engine!

Hmmm....
That has the AC Delco points and coil system which was an alternative to the Simms Magneto.
I would be very interested in this for parts to build up an engine, any idea how much they would want or who to contact?
Thanks for the photos Graham.
Will have a look in my stock of old parts , I think that I still have such a AC delco points and coil system.
Please let my know if you are still after this bit !

Danny,
There should be a couple of plates on top of the steering column support bracket, as you look through the steering wheel, one was the contract plate. Probably missing, usually are. The chassis number is stamped in the area just below petrol tank on pass. side if I remember, and will be prefixed with letters, QLD, QLR, etc. Most YX numbers I recall were QLR, but would not take the distributor as proof as it may have been substitiuted in later life.
regards,
Richard
The plates on my QL in front of the steering column!

I still looking for some wane that can make my canvas bits for the QL.
Seat covers, roof hip ring cover, bellows on gear sticks and steering column, radiator funnel and blind and the parts under the cabin.
I made al ready some enquiries with some well know canvas suppliers but without luck.
The problem is that I dot have any samples of my canvas bits as most of thees bits fell apart.

Somme small progress on the bedford.
The roof section is ready to put in top coat and the mudguards are also ready.
And the headlights have some new nickel on the mirrors!
And some other bits al ready in to paint. The temperature indicator was not a original part on the dashboard, but I like to have some this extra information about the water temperature on the move.

Normally if every thing go's to plan my bedford will be in Normandy in 2014.
There is one small problem it is not a MW but a QL.
We stay at the camp site Reine Mathilde at Etreham.

The engine is almost ready, just need to put the oil filter back on.
The roof hip ring is also completely renovated and the inside of the wheel arches are in paint, tomorrow I will paint the outside but that will be in black as al the parts that are visible from above need to be in black paint.
This is necessary as I want to have the QL in Mickey mouse camouflage.
