  4. on one of the rear leaf springs a bottom leaf was broken replaced this with a new piece. Still have to make a new bronze bush for the rear spring eye as there is excessive play in one bush.

  10. Rear axle in paint! traced also some original bits to replace the French steering box (pictures ) and modified mounting to the chassis.
  11. the back axle is ready to paint, get rid off the primmer that had been used by the previous owner. I use a epoxy paint and don't want to take any risks with this primmer. Also changed the front oil seal on the differential.
  12. Ian , there are some bits with the sandblasters for the trailer, so a big maybe for war and peace. For sure the interest is still there . If you are coming by a radio box for the C4 on you discovery conquest just give a shout.
  13. And now we have a nice front axle without play.
  14. steering knuckles back together and in paint, now without play.
  15. found the rear axle number, the previous owner modified the back axle bump stops with big rubber blocks and welded a extra plate on top off the axle. After removing these extra plates on the axle I discovered the back axle number and ratio. Number is as on identification plate, so still the original one.
  16. The steering swivels bronze bushes are ready and no more play on these bits, made also new bushes for the spring shackles and reamed them to a nice fit, now the bushes in the springs will follow. strange thing is that the front spring bushes have no play!must have well been greased .
  17. Had a go on the front steering knuckle, made some new bronze bushes with the lathe and after fitting made a nice fit for the swivel pin with a adjustable reamer.
  18. Thanks for this information , always nice to see people flowing this thread !
