  1. The only rear radio box bits that came with the Morris from France where the rear wheel boxes, not really in super shape as these metal bits had been exposed to the elements when the C4 was a breakdown lorry.

picture from the previous owner before stripping of the remains from the back of the Morris and the remains of the wheel arches that came sandblasted and primed to my place!

    IMG_2188.jpg

And now I started to make some new wheel arches .

And now I am in to all this construction work made also the tube from the bottom of the radiator to the water pump and also the missing shovel support .

  2. Some details for you . I found a piece of the cowl rubber on one of my wrecks, Rory had this rubber extrusion reproduced .

The CS8 aero screens had a little rubber bumber rest on the cowl . I found these on my 1939 CS8

Did a Morris C4 from 1944 had this rubber cowl extrusion fitted , on my C4 there are little holes just the size of a rivet to fit this rubber.

But maybe materials came scares at the end of the war and this rubber may gave been deleted on later models ?

    what do you think .

  3. Hi Ian.

I have the same light charging set and had to experiment a bit to have it well running.

Don't open the fuel tap completely, just halve way and your set will keep on running. The situation improves a lot when you connect the set to a battery and the charging set need to work.

That's my experience , had the set running for a hour without problem and a charged battery as result.

Now my 80 Watt set is running well I can concentrate on my chore horse charging set that need to go in the back of my Morris wireless lorry.

    Guy.

  4. Out of curiosity is there a need to have this drive shaft balanced? What sort of revs are required to run the generator or does the generator run at? or do the flange couplings take care of this? Do they(flange couplings) have a rubber component?

Hello, don't really think that the drive shaft need to be balanced as the dynamo is a low speed type. The drive couplings have rubber bits in them to take up some flex , you have the same type (but bigger ) on the drive shaft from the gearbox to the differential. This type of drive coupling is typical for Morris .

Just will hive it a tray and see if it works, if there is to match vibration I still can have the drive shaft to the axillary dynamo balanced .

    Big drive coupling.

  5. Found some pictures on the net with Morris commercials C4 wireless models. First one is a know picture on this forum , you can see two C4 W/T models coming ashore in Normandy. Booth from the 15th LAA Regiment serving with the 7th armoured division.

Second picture is a W/T on the advance in Holland with the 11th armoured division.

  6. Nice progress on the Bedford , I need also to fabricate the rear box for my Morris C4. Do you know there use on the back of 15 Cwt trucks ?

Is it possible that the wheel chains where kept in this box ass the top is open and not really water proof .

Luckily I also have a model to copy.

  7. Andy, the door frame is made of ash and now a have some extra wood on order for the radio box. Will make a complete new body for my C4 and repair the radar truck from a friend that I have for the moment in for engine work.

It's great that I have a sample vehicle with the right box on it to make a copy.

    Guy.

  8. Made a support for the axillary dynamo to supply the radio battery's for the Wireless set up.

As there is not match information about how to fit the axillary dynamo I based my support on the pictures I have of this type of dynamo fitted on to Bedford's .

Had to improvise a bit as on the Bedford's you don't have a handbrake rod that interfere with the dynamo, Bedford has only one central handbrake cable and on the Morris you have on either side a rod to engage the brakes .

    IMG_2155.jpg

Now I need to make the two drive flanges, one for the pto and one for the dynamo.

Found also a propeller shaft with the same style of universal joints as used on Morris , only need to lengthen this shaft.

  9. Been looking for some tyres to put on the Morris and as the original track grips are so difficult to find had to look somewhere else.

My thoughts where with NATO profile tyres as on my Bedford but had a better deal from John Gray that advertise on milweb for a set Petlas nt3 size 900x16. I was very lucky that John brought the 4 tyres over to Belgium when he came over for Tanks in town .

The look for me is close enough to the original ones and I like to drive these things some distance, don't like to worry to match about old cracked tyres.

    IMG_2142.jpg

Had the wheel rims sandblasted and back in to paint with the brake drums.

    IMG_2144.jpg

Still looking for the right rim for my spare tyre, the rim that came with the Morris is probably a post war rim and have more bolts to assemble the two rim parts together .

  10. Looking for some information about the Morris c4 that came my way for some work.

As I am looking to make a copy (and repair the last one) I need some information about the metal profiles I found under the floor in front of the radio box.

Ass it now looks it is more likely that this truck was a early warning model (radar) even the identification plate say sow.

Are these profiles to fit the radio table are the feet of the radar mast ??

  11. This weekend took delivery of a Morris C4 W/T . this Morris need some serious engine work and general work to get it back roadworthy.

Luckily all the missing parts came with the vehicle!

Will come very handy to make a copy of the rear radio section for my wireless C4.

Rear radio body on this one is far from original and there will also be some work on it to get it right, so a lot of work in the near future .

    IMG_2128.jpg

Rear radio installation is far from original, will need to investigate if this was not a early warning truck as there are some differences between this type and wireless type .

  12. Brake cylinders are back from reconditioning by Past Parts.

Started to assemble the front brakes, the brake shoes are relined and also added some new brake houses.

Rear brake shoes have also been relined .

Now I am looking for some tires with a bit of a classics design, looking at some Nato tires 900 x 16 but I am not 100% sure that these will fit on the rims.
