  1. Whats the problem with finding a box? i had no worries when i needed a new casing for mine, think i bought two cases in the end for £60. They often come up on Ebay.

     

    If your struggling to find and original box use a Hotchkiss box instead, they are the same size,look etc and go straight on. On the plus side they are slightly better than the original. I think Dallas Autos has some new Hotchkiss boxes, although that was a few months back.

  2. Any owners of the above vehicles out there? if so and they would like an extremely hard to come by English copy of the operators/maintenance manual and parts list i can give them a copy in PDF on CD ;-)

  3. On the way back from Bordon on Sunday i noticed the exhaust was chuffing a touch :|.

     

    Had a quick look at the usual suspect "Flexi pipe", Nope not here! :-(

     

    Looked at the muffler, Nope not here! :-(

     

    check the manifold............OH POO! the stud right at the back is MIA :cry:

     

    So i whip the manifold off to see if it snapped or just wondered off...............................Its snapped off just inside the block :argh: :cry:

     

    To top it off the manifold is cracked in the usual place :argh: :banghead: :cry: :cry: :cry:

     

    And the flexi pipe snapped when i removed the down pipe from the manifold!!!!!

     

    Guess what im doing this winter??? Who's turn is it with the bad luck? i can post or e-mail :rofl: :tup:

  4. Saw this lovely motor boat in Southampton last week, not an MV as such but deserves a mention as it was part of the Dunkirk Little Ships. It is Absolutely immaculate. Huge Respect to the Owner (who ever it may be?)

  5. Dont think so... it was chopperised in the late 50's i believe. Before i picked it up it still had ape hangers :schocked: and tiny fuel/oil tanks!.

     

    I have the original log book with all the oweners up unitl 1967 when the last owner parked it up.

    Heres how the bike looked when she was wheeled out of its 30 odd year hidey hole! Luckily the last owner kept all the original parts :goodidea: :thankyou:.

  7. Baz,

     

    Not used a jig for a Bedford cab, but just done some structural work on a Fordson cab, it did not require removing from the chassis in this case, but I would strongly advise that if it is severely corroded in the lower area, to build a space frame of sorts, within the cab, before removing it, bolting it to existing points of good strength, in order to preserve its integrity. Once removed, it can soon distort then when you cut out the rot and weld new metal in, it may not align again, doors may not fit, etc. If this framework were done right, it may be possible to rotate the cab, as on a spit, with the axis right through the middle of the cab, side to side. This way you will be able to weld at a convenient position.

    yep see what your saying, i like the idea of a spit :naughty:,

     

    I was going to brace the cab in all directions before cutting about the rot, i will build a sturdy frame to bolt the cab to using the three cab mounts then weld/bolt some bracing in place. fingers crossed it will all fit back together again
