  1. I use light plastic sheets (Adverts knicked off the side of a bus) on the top of the canvas, to prevent puddles, and a large motorhome cover is the best way to go.

    Where did you source the Motorhome cover from ?

    I've spotted these on E-Bay, although I'm not sure they are big enough. I'll have to check the truck dimensions when I'm home. http://www.leisureoutlet.com/caravans-and-motorhomes/caravan-and-motorhome-covers/full-motorhome-covers.html

    Kind regards

  2. Guys

    Last winter I stripped the back of my CCKW 352 right back to just the metal and stored the Canvas, Seats and Bow. For a variety for reasons I’m thinking of leaving the back on. I already have a 12’ x 12’ canvas tent that I wrap the cab up in, and that does a great job. I’m keen to find out what other CCKW owners do regarding covering the cargo canvas over successfully.

    Kind regards to all

  3. What I love about this film is 99% of the vehicles are right for this era not like say pearl harbour where they use reos and various other films that use the wrong trucks it drives me potty. ALWAYS WITH THE NEGATIVE WAVES sorry

    I'm with you on that :)

  4. A great film which I watched for the first time in over a decade with my youngster recently on DVD. Lots to enjoy in it :)

    I too love the Burning Bridges song by the Mike Curb Congregation. Here are the lyrics:

    Friends all tried to warn me

    But I held my head up high

    All the time they warned me

    But I only passed them by

    They all tried to tell me

    But I guess I didn't care

    I turned my back and

    Left them standing there

    All the burning bridges that have fallen after me

    All the lonely feelings and the burning memories

    Everyone I left behind each time I closed the door

    Burning bridges lost forevermore

    Joey tried to help me find a job

    A while ago

    When I finally got it I didn't want to go

    The party Mary gave for me

    When I just walked away

    Now there's nothing left for me to say

    All the burning bridges that have fallen after me

    All the lonely feelings and the burning memories

    Everyone I left behind each time I closed the door

    Burning bridges lost forevermore

    Years have passed and I keep thinking

    What a fool I've been

    I look back into the past and

    Think of way back then

    I know that I lost everything I thought that I could win

    I guess I should have listened to my friends

    All the burning bridges that have fallen after me

    All the lonely feelings and the burning memories

    Everyone I left behind each time I closed the door

    Burning bridges lost forevermore

    Good spot !!! I had missed that. Which means..... I already have that vehicle !!! LOL :) I've consolidated into No 125.

    I'm trawling through the HMVF and Flick sites at the moment. My guess is I'll top out at around the 200 mark.....

    It seems I was wrong... Now at 250 and still climbing !

  6. Except its not a Clubmobile, it appears to be a converted signals/workshop body, the Clubmobile body was purpose built and longer, the other one in the UK is a replica built by the Red Ball express 514 sqdn guys

    Good spot about it being a converted workshop ! LOL I'll add appropriate notes to both vehicles :)

  7. I've clawed my way up to 240 vehicles recorded thus far. Its quite intersting to see the vehicle mix. With the stats being as follows:

    325 = 59

    353 = 181

    Closed Cab = 82

    Open Cab = 158

    Airportable = 4

    Bolster = 5

    Clubmobile = 2

    Compressor = 3

    Converted = 6

    Radio = 3

    Tanker = 1

    Tipper = 10

    Tractor Unit = 1

    Wooden Back = 4

    Workshop = 23

  8. I was thinking that, but they look so much better without a puddle of petrol underneath and flambé doghouse. It's not been my year, but hey it's the first year I've had vehicles of my own so I've learned a lot ;)
    Keep working on them Lauren. We have plans afoot for another Road Run at X-Mas :)
  9. I've decided that each time I do some work on the truck I'm going to write up a Work Instruction on the actvity, so (a) that if I have to do it again, it will be more straightforward, and (b) it might help other people out. Using this as my first effort, I've taken the instuctions from the TM, broken them down further, and then added a bunch of notes (whilst the activity is really fresh in my mind). Later in the week I'll add some photos. Would anyone like to help me out and do a proof read ?My subsequent plan is make it available to download. (Not quite sure where from yet) Cheers Vulture

    Hi Pzkpfw-e

    Just managed to work out what I was missing. I needed to tick a box entitled 'Image only(no link)' to get it to produce the right code :)

  11. Hi guys

    I used to host my photos with Web Shots, but they have been bought out and the site is re badging itelf as Smile. The problem is they won't in the future allow photo links from it :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::argh::argh::argh::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

    I've started uploading photos onto Picaso, but can't get pictures to show here. Can anyone help ? The code doesn't seem to work.

    Cheers

  12. I've never thought about that before but you are absolutely right.

    There are water pump variations, particularly length, but I'm sure Rex would give you the correct one automatically. From hazy memory the truck one was shorter than the DUKW one, but you could use the truck one on the DUKW with a spacer adapter - no idea how you got access though.

    While you have the pump off back flush the radiator and the block.

    Hi Gordon

    Yes' I'm going to give it a good flush out.

  13. Unless my memory is playing tricks, with the fan blade bolts out you should be able to give the pulley and hub a sharp tap and remove it? More room will result.

    I'd forget the slot, use the hex somehow (ring spanner with good offset or socket with pulley off).

    Oh the joys of doing a job the first time - or so long after you did it before that you've forgotten how to do it :rofl:

    NOS

    Spoke to Rex. You need a special four fixture puller tool to get the pulley off, which can be only done with the pump off. He suggests I either:

    1. Grind down a spanner to fit.

    2. Use a Side Action Screwdriver.

    3. Use something else (tempered obviously) that will fit in the slot.

    I shall have a root around in my tool boxes this afternoon and think about how to proceed. I'd never heard of a Side Action Screwdriver before, and after a quick search on the net, it would seem to fall into the category of 'as rare as rocking horse sh1t" LOL
