2. When we first bought the house, we made sure it came with planning permission for a large garage and workshop ( 12 x 4.2 metres ) so that all my stuff and mess could stay out of the house. In the main, it worked, with my stuff only occasionally leaking out into the house or onto the patio.

I like the phrase 'occasionally leaking' :D:rotfl:

3. I am getting really hacked off with this company called Combat Service Support. I ordered some gear from them back on 6 Jun. They took a good 6 weeks to deliver the order, and then half of it was incorrect ! >:(>:(

No one answers the phone when you call, and thus far they are ignoring my E-Mails.:mailforyou: :mad:

Most unimpressed. >:(>:(>:(

If I don't get a response to my latest E-Mail by Wed I'm going contact my Credit Card Company and get my monies refunded. :angry

Has anyone else had problems with them ?

Kind regards to all

4.

...as I have commented on HMVF before..the scrapping of HMS Vanguard was without a shadow of a doubt an absolutely appalling decision....as our very last 'proper' battleship , no way on this planet should she have been scrapped...........and neither should our last 'proper' carrier HMS Ark Royal either come to that >:( ......apart from the little tiddler HMS Belfast we have nothing left to show what 'sailing on a ship of the line' used to mean :(

Could not agree with you more.
5. I put a reasonable RANGE of prices on these trucks. There are 4 or 5 varying levels and a price range for each. I have not said a truck is worth £3456.95.. but in a range of £2500-£3500.

The princes auction is in no way a realistic statement on CCKW or Command car value. Filthy rich people wanting to get in good with a Royal family. Politics, not proper valuation.

Sorry to flat out disagree, but a 'reasonable' condition GMC with an okay canvas and say half-worn tyres in the UK is going to command a better price than £ 3,500 it just is. If you see any reasonable ones advertised for £ 3k, let me know, I'll go and buy another to sell on for a quick profit to help pay down the loan I've got on mine :D

6. That is awful news, makes my blood boil . The people concerned need a good beating IMHO.

If it has been taken abroad then there will in all likelihood be CCTV footage of it at the ports or Tunnel. Suggest write to the vehicle mags and MVT, the more publicity about this the better.

7. We arrived on the 14th with the jeep, halftrack and dodge and after walking the route to our pitch on Monktons we had a bit of a squelchy time driving on to the pitch but no dramas, we were camped up by the arena marshalls and it seems we were surrounded by some of the worst roads on the site. We set up our tents but by monday we were wondering if it was worth calling the low loader to pick us up on wed due to all the roads being nearly impassable to most MV's due to idiots forcing their way through ticker tapes and barriers and acting surprised when they got bottomed out. Glad we held on as spent more time in the arena than ever before and picked up runner up in the prize giving for the ambluance. Congratulations to Mark for his prize with Shrek.

Here's our halftrack finished at 2am before loading to the show.

No doubt that is one tasty looking Halftrack :-)

8. I've been away for a week for the Bolero event, so only now catching up with my posts from before and since. Before I went away, I got the brake pipes made for both axles. The 'S' bends on the steering knuckles weren't as difficult as I was expecting.

Wow ! I'm amazed at the twists required on that pipe ! You've done a good job there.

9. The August edition of Classic Military Vehicle (CMV) has the following 'asking' prices against GMCs in the UK and local European countries:

Low £ 3,850

Average: £ 11,170

High: £ 14,500

To quote from the mag "The figures given are not valuations and not reflect condition - they have been derived from the asking price for vehicles recently advertised in CMV and on MILWEB. This is price they were advertised at, and no guarantee it was sold at this price... or that it sold at all."

The figure above can fluctuate quite sharply from month to month, but if you look back over the last 12 months, the average of the 'average' asking price has been £ 7,793, and over the last 6 months £ 7,939.

10. This is my GMC being driven by our son Tony, the engine is standard bore, good compression, no oil leaks, sounds very sweet. She stays in all gears, no wear in the boxes, or diffs. Bodywise very sound with good paintwork................ here in the U.K. that will be considered " Run of the mill".......... plain average. Maybe we just look after this stuff very well............... in fact I am in a worse condition that the truck. However, I am a little older than the truck though.

Great looking truck Ray :) Very nice. I'd be happy to park that long term on my drive as well :)

11. If the condition is good, then I think that thats somewhat under priced......... I would have thought that the going rate would be nearer £7,000.00.

I tend to agree with Ray. The value of CCKWs has been going up in terms of what people are prepared to pay, although there are some bargains to be had. If the tyres are good (and I mean just more than legal) and the canvas is good as well then he should be able to get more than £5,000 if he hangs on.
