  1. Hey guys. I apologize for the huge delay in this. But uni had to come first This video is of Niels OT-90 and what I got filmed during W&P last year. I hope you enjoy it! John.
  2. Hey guys, Our Sherman restoration has hit another snag. We took a look at the air cleaners we took out of our M4A4 last week and found them full of holes and basically beyond use. If anybody knows of a set (Left and right handed internally mounted ones specifically for M4A4) please let me know John.
  3. Just wishing all of you going to War and Peace a safe journey! We are leaving tonight for the ferry and can't wait to get back to the show (after missing the previous 6 years.. but girlfriend liked London a lot) All the best chaps! Hope to see you guys in person and swap some chat and a beer maybe!
  4. I would kill for a T-55. I am not too upset at seeing a burnt our Saracen mind you
  5. Thanks Adrain! I woke up to hearing him doing his "Have you got?" with a few people and a couple of "You still have!" as well! I know our Gyro was non-existent. As you can guess it was full of holes or was part of the 6 inches of "rust" lining the bottom of the hull. I am just very curious as I have never seen a working example. I'll probably never find everything but I can always try! I hope to see you at Beltring Adrian and get a chat with you once my dad has had his chat (Yes there is a pecking order)
  6. Hey guys. We have ran in to a bit of a brick wall with our restoration. We are installing a hydraulic traverse system but we are missing the oil tank. From what my dad has told me it is a rather specific part with pressure release valves and such fitted to it. If anybody knows where we could get our hands on one of these we would love to hear from you! And as a bit of a personal project I am looking up information on the Gyro stab system. I am sure Adrian can help me with this as I am wondering if the M4A4 had the stab fitted and if so how complex the system is. I am fairly certain that the parts are pretty much impossible to get so it's more of a curiosity to see just in the off chance I could get my hands on one. Hope to see many of you at War and peace! I am pretty much geared up to get filming! John.
  7. I will do! Thanks Looking forward to it! Time to brush up on my research.
  8. I think it might be safer then if I don't ask John
  9. Hey guys. I have been quiet for a while due to University but now that's all wrapped up i'm back to hopefully get some confirmations from the vast amount of interest I have had for expanding the Armour World youtube channel! What do I need from you? Firstly stick a reply to this thread, stating what vehicle you are willing to let me film, also if you are willing to appear on camera for a brief interview. Finally if you can send me a Private message with a way to contact you while I am on-site so I can arrange a day and time to get filming. The basic idea is to try and get as much footage of your vehicles moving around so there will be a day where I will try to get as many of you guys to let me take a run on your vehicle to get some nice shots of it going its thing! Then other footage shot during the rest of the week where interviews and close up footage of the vehicles will be done. This is however just a plan.. and we all know how plans turn out! Again thank you so much for everybodies interest! I am really excited to get started and meet you guys! John Lyons.
  10. I was there about 5 years ago. They didn't have the KT on display though as they were preping it for a parade. Some fantastic examples in thier collection thats for sure! And well worth the treck to go have a look. John.
  11. @John, I will be trying my best to get you all at Beltring this year. I will be there for the full week and by the looks of it I will have a lot of work to do Im certainly not complaining as it'll keep my eyes off the shiney stalls, full of wonders that i will buy and never use.
  12. You would think they wouldn't mind watching tracked armour rumbling past. But each to their own eh?
  13. I will be sure to grab contact details off anybody I am planning to meet up with down there. Save me a few miles of walking trying to find guys
  14. To Adrain. Thats our baby right there. I belive she was on the same range as Adrians. Mostly small arms and mortar strikes. And heck yes I will be at W&P! I hope to do the bulk of my filming there. A bit on our sherman to put her in perspective to that pic above. All suspension units have been replaced, final drive was removed, checked and reassembled, all internals were pretty much useless except the heavier stuff such as turret ring and gun mechanisim. Although the gun itself was totally butchered by the people who deactivated it. A new rear left engine bay door was made along with about 30% of the top engine bay armour as it had recieved a serious hit to the engine, we got nothing useful from the Multibank engine as it was all reduced to scrap. The gunners periscope mount has been cut out and replaced with one from another turret too. So it has been quite extensive! The turret is now undergoing welding and blasting. I will add pics when ever I get home to have a look.
  15. I am using a small Sanyo flip cam that shoots in 1080p. The problem with it is its audio is not up to scratch. I am buying a digi voice recorder and a tie mic to be able to get better audio quality. I edit my videos with AdobeCS4.
  16. What myself and my dad enjoy about the hobby is networking with the likes of Adrian and many others at shows like War and Peace. We both love to keep it above board and meet dealers face to face. I think that helps to kill this Murk that some feel is creeping under our beds. Of course it is there, look at the soldiers selling parts from their CVRT's in Iraq to make personal profit. I think as a hobby this is one of the richest around. People from book worms to engineering masters can have thier own input in to the same hobby. I do not believe you get that in a lot of other hobbies. That is what makes this a great hobby with great people.
  17. Hey Ken. Feel free to drop a PM my way and we can chat about what I can do! If there is anything specific you would like me to cover or anything like that just jot it down mate.
  18. Hey all. If you have ready my introduction threat you know what this is about! Armour World is looking for owners of armoured vehicles in the UK who are willing to show off their machines and let us interview you on your collection and if possibble allow us to film your machine doing what it does best. Video formats: Currently the format consists of a brief history talk on the particular vehicle befor filming inside and around the vehicle, highlighitng features that make the vehicle interesting. On top of this we would like to film the vehicle driving or have the engine running. We believe this format is informative and entertaining while also showing the owners vehicle in the best light possibble. Future formats: A feature called "The Toy Shed" is planned for those of you with larger collections as more of a personal insight in to your interest and what you love about the hobby. Also another format for doing MV show coverage may also be worked in there in the future, based on the viewership and interest in the channel. As a ww2 reenactor and son of a vehichle owner, I understand some vehicle owners may feel shy or unwilling to allow a stranger inside thier pride and joys. This of course is something I fully respect and wish to say that nothing will be done without well agreed permission from the vehicle owner. I am currently based in Preston But once I have some cashflow I will be willing to travel to events (although I am without personal transport) So again something might be able to be arranged prior to events. Anyway if you have any questions please drop a reply here or PM me if you would like to offer your support. Cheers Guys. John Lyons.
  19. Hey there is no reason I can't do a video on your collection, as a sort of "collectors toyshed" kind of show as well as doing individual videos on your machines
  20. Eddy, it would be an honour to get up close to a Cromwell. I would certainly love to do a video on such a nice machine! And thank you for your kind words. That is exactly what I am aiming for!
  21. Hey all. Firstly a thank you to Lee for the invite to the site! Well I am John Lyons. I used to work for Beasts of War for a few years before I felt to become a student at UCLAN. I already see some names on this forum I have met briefly at War and Peace over my years of attending. My dad and I own a few vehicles, cheif among them is a Sherman M4A4 that Adrain has supplied parts for in the past! We also have a windsor carrier and a GMC and a Jeep. So I thought I would explain what Armour World is. It is a youtube channel I have started this year which I hope to expand on. The basics behind it is to bring an informal documentary series that highlights the military vehicle hobby, showing the efforts of many of you vehicle owners out there and hopefully getting to show off your stuff for all to see online. I have always wanted people to understand that a documentary is not all science and numbers. So I am trying to create something fun and informative. With that said, the success of the channel is down to finding people out there with vehicles who are willing to let me in and around their pride an joys and maybe if they wish to give a demonstration. I have already had an invite to war and peace by Normandy 44 So I hope that will open up the idea and make a better proof on concept so that it does become the channel I have in my mind. You can see below is a link to the channel page which has my first video (conducted on our own Sherman restoration) more to see if the video would be the kind of thing people would watch. Anyway I will not ramble any longer. Thank for the invite again and I hope to hear from you guys in the future and grab a drink with some of you at War and Peace this year! http://www.youtube.com/user/ArmourWorld?feature=mhum
