  1. Hi Folks, Cheers for all the suggestions, will take the Batts out and check em both... but will also check the terminals and..... check all the earth strips first!! but, think it could be poss for one of the batts to have struck the lid....Had a bit of a rough moment at W&P this year  So...Will check those points over again, The funny thing is the lights.. both come on but as you try the starter switch, the lights just dim out or go out completely...Then occasionally the lights will return with a brighter glow, and then the switch makes that contact click/clunk! :what: Just out of interest...What is a Clopftest????? :dunno: All the Beast Folks and Many Thanks Fred
  2. Hi Folks, I have a problem!! :banghead: Ferret Mk 2/4, Has been running fine, then parked up after the shows, now....... It Won't Start!! :argh: Turn it on, operate starter switch, lights dim but nowt happens! Occasionally the lights brighten slightly then when you operate the switch you get a click/clunk from the starter....but thats it! Have topped up the batteries, charged them both up, reconnected it all....and same again!! :banghead: HELP!!! :flower: Am I overlooking somat or is there a simple remedy?? :rtfm: All instrument guages and lights work, but its getting me depressed now! Would welcome any suggestions PLEASE!! All the Best Folks Fred
  3. Hi Everyone, I was at the Oddessy this year, was not impressed but thats another story... While I was there, met up with a chap who called himself 'Singe' as in burnt!! He owns a Daimler Dingo and dresses in WW2 British army kit, he is acting as his grandfather who served with 8 Corps, as did my father! So, now you get the picture, :-D He packed up and cleared off over night and never got a chance to find out where he actually came from. :banghead: Would just like to get in touch with him as next year at W&P me and the Mrs are dressing up in WW2 uniforms, me as my Dad and Annika as my Mum (REME & RAF Aux.) If anyone knows of him could they let me know please, he was a good ol boy in my book! Fred & Annika

  9. Hi Jack, Well, just a thought really, been thinking about this all day, My Dad was on D-Day +1, so all those years ago, he was probably sitting on some tank landing craft waiting to go over! He is unfortunately no longer with us but I researched most of his War years and he went ashore on Sword beach but then followed through all the way to Germany. I am Proud of my Father I salute all of those guys who had to go through that, they were afterall... Kids 17 -20 odd, Thanks for bringing these dates to memory for everyone Fred
  10. Ooops! Sorry, Listen to Sirhc re fitting the isolator!! Fred :yawn2:
  11. Hi Dave, We are virtually next door!! I'm in Gillingham, also got a 2/4 ( Good Choice) Also my wife Loves the little beasty!! As for isolator, Negative lead I believe!! GCP = Gear Change Pedal ... Beware of False Neutrals!! Will put your left knee somewhere near your left ear!!! As for electric fuel pump.. May not be needed, If you have problems starting it, check the fuel filter inside behind the commanders seat on wall, it sometimes gets air-lock andyou need to just prime it with a little top up! I run my old girl for about 15-20 mins once a fortnight ... BUT.. Check the oil in your dynamo first!! Little brass bolt with washer ( Don't Drop it!!) just prime with a few squirts of engine oil then replace the bolt, don't over tighten!! Apart from that, Tell Val to talk to my Mrs.. Annika... She will get her to understand the other girl in your lfe!!Ha Ha! :yay: Anyway, Welcome to the Hobby Mate, Fred

  15. Sounds like a small plot in the Americas field might be a good place to be then eh! :goodidea: Will be having a small board in front of the old Ferret, so will also display a HMVF badge on that too  We will be there early on but we won't take up too much space, there will be four of us this year, me n the Mrs n Mark n his Mrs!! ( Should be Interesting!!) Ha Ha! :box: Really looking forward to it, see you all soon! All the Best Folks Fred & Annika  :yay:
  16. Hi All  Now, I'm sure there is probably already a thread all about this somewhere already :knockknock: But.... Is there gonna be a particular area that HMVF members are going to park up? Reason for asking is that we are going down very early that week! But don't want to set up miles away from everyone else :naughty: We used to park up where we used to have the Chieftain before, but we fancy somewhere different this year, likewise we don't want to nick someone elses regular pitch if we can help it :oops2: Somewhere over by the Americas field looks better! All the Best Folks Fred & Annika  :yay:

  20. I agree with the last picture, looks like a Bore-sight for somat, but with that 20p coin for sizeing it would be a very large bore anti-tank rifle or Co-ax MG.If it has some kind of eyepiece on that end? Fred
  21. Cheers Andy, 8-) ...But.... The Mrs would be displaying certain parts of my anatomy from telegraph poles if I was to even think of buying anything else eh! :yawn2: I think I will keep an eye open at the show this year, and if I can... Next year I may have a go at the old engineering hobby again!! Will see what happens! :rtfm: See you at the Show Mate  Fred

  24. Hi Richard, As promised, my Dad and his QL, pictures were taken in Belgium...Somewhere?Hope they come out OK, the mascot was a horseshoe with a cherrub in the middle ( I think he 'found' it in the ruins of France)! Also, the ID Number is only painted on one side? He was with 8 Corps but was attached to 30 Corps for the Market Garden Operation, apparantly if you drove a lorry, you got sent anywhere that supplies were needed! All the Best Fred
