  1. Sorry Mate  But you of all people will know what I mean! :cofee: My only contact with SAS guys was in NI, when a team of them asked us to go on a VCP and operate in a sloppy manner ie lighting up ciggies etc. to attract the attention of a group they were trackin!! Needless to say...none of us fancied being the victim of the third light!! if you get my drift! We did the patrol and the VCP but....very twitchy!!!...Think they got their quarry without our help tho...there was no contact!!...So... they must have got there before us eh? Anyway, would love to join you for a cuppa....if you will still let me? :redfaced: All the Beast Fred
  2. Wey-Eye Alien Lad!!  But of Course The Life Guards are the Better Regiment!!! Being the Senior Regt of the British Army n all that like!! Ha Ha! ( Except of course for when the RHA Kings Troop have got their Guns out! I Know!!) :coffee: Point Made eh!! All the Beast Fred & Annika  :yay:
  3. Well...He Was ONLY 2 PARA!!!! ( Only 2 things fall out the sky,Bird S... n Para's ...except the Bird S.... is far more accurate!!)  As was mentioned about my wearing of my fathers uniform etc. ...It is not disrespectfull and anyway...was the guy really ex 2 para...There are a lot of wannaby's out there, just the same as when anyone comes up to me at any of the shows and starts off with the "I was in the SAS".....I straight away lose any interest in what ever else they have got to say!! Cos its gonna be C..... But of course it also makes them wonder when I point out that I was a Trooper in the Regiment!!!...All ex Life Guards refer to it as "The Regt" and I was ...A Trooper!! Makes em stop n think tho!! You wear it mate, just as I will wear it .... its for our fathers not for us!! Its Called PRIDE! Fred & Annika  :yay:
  4. Absolutely Correct!! :coffee2: Relatives and foriegn worn on the Right, your own and honoured foriegn medals to the left  Except of course if your'e "Dressing Up"!!!   All the Beast Fred & Annika  :yay:
  5. Yep, We used to store our beer cans in the rear basket of our Chieftain especially in Canada....Until the Infantry mob with us thought it would be funny to blast the rear of our turret with their Gympy!!! :argh: Live firing training grounds have there drawbacks!!! :banghead: But yes, personal equipment and spares, tied on wherever they could find the space! Fred
  6. Thanks Alien and Andy, :-D Will post a picture on the site after the show this year! :-D :-D Just wanted to make sure that my pride did not cause any annoyance to anyone thats all! I am proud of my parents, my dad was on D-Day +1 landing at sword beach, he was a lorry driver for the duration. When we watched the Band of Brothers series we realised that he had virtually followed those guys around, also he could be seen as a star in the film Bridge to far as he was one of the drivers who delivered those boats to the 82nd , so he saw a bit of action on and off though unfortunately he died when I was 9 so I have had to research his war years from records etc. ..The one funny bit that he saw though was the fact that he went through all that without a scratch, then on demob he was a front seat passenger in a lorry (His Driving Permit ran out the day before) and he was involved in a RTA with another lorry at a crossroad ...He suffered a #skull, # Leg and whilst unconscious they burnt him with the Oxy/Set cutter cutting him out of the reckage!! Bit of a sod eh! He didn't get out of the Army for another 6 months and even then he was still in the hospital! So..Yes.. I will wear his medals and his uniform with pride!! Thanks folks Fred & Annika  :yay:
  7. Right, Now you got it going....When are we gonna see you at the War & Peace Show then eh? :-D Nice to hear that one of the old girls has been rescued again! Brill mate and Good Luck tracing that lead!!!!! Just sorry I can't help you with it! All the Beast Fred & Annika  :yay:
  8. Clive, :-D Its OK mate, that squirt or 3 usually brings the level to the top of the hole as I tend to start the old girl up fairly regular....When its got BATTERIES !!! Thanks , Fred
  9. Well... I too 'Dress up'.. my reason is that I wear my old kit, that I wore when I was in NI, and of course I have my ferret restored to 70's standard as best as I can afford! However, also...As a mark of respect to my parents, my wife and I will be 'Dressing up' in the evenings in WW2 uniforms to represent my Mum & Dad, he was REME and mum was WRAF, I hope that no one will take offence at that but...Will it be wrong in anyones eyes for me to wear my dad's medal ribbons as gained at that point, as this is to represent my father? I have earned my own, but...I will be attempting to appear as my dad? Must admit I do agree generally with most peoples comments about insignia and rank when there is no family or previous service to the crown , connection! My reason for dressing up in the first place was to show living history in the sence of, having a vehicle all renovated and cammed up and basically looking as it would all those years ago, a slice of history so to speak! I hate seeing something that is really well restored being driven into the arena at Beltring with people hanging out of the top in jeans and T shirt, or the driver looking like he just came in from the garden!! After all, its a show, so 'Impress' All the Beast and Happy Christmas to you all Fred & Annika
  10. Hi Ossie, :-D Welcome to the club!! ;-) You must be a mate of Greg's then?? :nut: He's invited us up there to join but... Shift work is a bit of a sod at times eh!! :banghead: Anyway, good to see you on here ...Have fun! Fred & Annika  :yay:
  11. When I was on the Chieftain...we had to wear cubs! these were a device that straped on the head and you had like a little pair of byno's stuck on yer head! :-D When you put the IR lights on, you could see the beam of light, only trouble was, the natural urge to look left and right as normal....But... it all went dark!!! Not much fun on the underwear when you are driving 54 tons near the edge of a quarry!!! :schocked: Great sence of humour those boffins had in the old days! ;-) Fred
  12. Yanks eh!!! :-D Enough Said Yeah!!
  13. Err!...What's all this got t do wiv gettin a B****%!!"* Dress Made???? :banghead: As for Warhorse!...Nice try but....I aint that 'Kinky'!!! Cheers Though Fred
  14. Enigma....Not quite sure how to take that one? :schocked: I am a respectable old chap really....With a younger wife who is keen on all things Green and Hevy Metal! On top of that of course....I can't help being a dirty old Git!!! :-D   X
  15. I Quite agree, thats why I just give it a squirt or 3!... Mind you, the old girl probably burns that little amount off after a good run eh! The bloke in lucas shop, said it was just enough to cover the lower outlet hole so as to aid with the vacum effect of drawing the oil through the gearbox...I follow advice when it may save me a lot of pennies!! :redfaced: All the Beast and HAPPY CRIMBO toALL :-D :-D :-D :-D  Fred & Annika  :yay:
  16. Hi Safariswing, :-D :-D Well.....Not Quite.... But ......If she dared to wear that....it would very quickly get ruffled eh!!!! :schocked: Wehey! :-D The dress I have in mind is a little more descreet and refined ie...She can wear it in PUBLIC!!! As for Lee enfields question...Gillingham in Kent! :-D Was really hoping that there may have been a sypathetic 'Girly' member out there who might know how to make one still?ie...Still kmows how to use a sewing machine! When I was a kid, all my Aunties and cousins etc. of all ages seemed to be at it all the time! Now I suppose we just go on line or go out n buy one! Pity really aint it! Ah Well....Just have t keep looking eh! :coffee2: All the Beast Fred & Annika  :yay:
  17. Hi Folks, :-D Now I have a little question for anyone out there who may be able to help! :captain: I am trying to get a dress made for my Little Lady! :flower: A simple enough task you may think eh!....But....I can't find anyone who does it anymore!! :banghead: The reason is... At the Oddessy this year I saw a girl wearing a dress that I thought was a Cracker!!(The Dress....Mind you she was a bit of ....OOooops!) The Dress was a Halterneck....But....It was in DPM!!! Brill! So... What I would like to know is (a) Is there anyone in the group who can do this or (b) Does anyone know anyone who could do this??? So... Help! :help: All the Beast Fred
  18. How True Tony...How True!! :-D I must admit I use the same theory at work...Prevention is easier than cure!! All the Beast Fred & Annika  :yay:
  19. Hi Dave, Yeah! The reason my dynamo needed to be renovated was because the geezer who had it before me ....Didn't Bother! It all dryed up and buggered the wokins a treat! :banghead: I recomend...Give it a squirt or two!! I normally just squirt about 3 or4 good long plundger fulls in! Will be over t see you some time soon! Though now it will probably have t be in the New Year eh! All the Beast Fred & Annika  :yay:
  20. Adam, :-D When I had the dynamo rebuilt at lucas (A Very Expensive Move!!)... :banghead:The guy who was in there had very good knowlege of the item, he advised me to just give a couple of squirts with a oil can to prime it after a stand of 2 weeks or more! Not had any probs ...YET!!! All the Beast Fred
  21. Hi, :-D The Guy at Higham is called 'Jim', I used to be one of the guy's that worked on those two, I was the registered driver! But...If your thinking of asking for anything there....Have your Wallet Ready!! I would suggest a more 'Lagit' spares outlet! :cofee: All the Best with the old girl though.....Still Miss em! Fred
