  1. Clearly 'rocking your world' (again as my daughter seem to say regularly) - make sure you post some pics of the label.... £35+ quid for this is a real deal...:-D
  2. Understood! Would be good to get your list of NSN's to cross reference what I have...
  3. Steve - may be able to help here - I assume a few photos are what you are after.... It may take me a while to dig jacket and trousers out of storage so bear with me!
  4. What intrigued me on this smock was that it seems to be a 68 pattern but has the metric 180/104 sizing...must have been right on the cusp of the change over....
  5. Mark - if I am not mistaken that looks like another H E Textiles manufactured smock. They seemed to have had the market on Smocks and windproofs in the late 70's!
  6. Will keep an eye out - what is your budget?
  7. Looks really good Mark! What are you missing from a uniform/DPM point of view these days?
  8. In short - no. As Jon has already said anything that big would be special order. The largest waist sizes are size 3,6 and 9 - 3 short, 6 medium, 9 tall (more giraffe actually) but all three with waist sizes: 8595 or 85cm to 95cm = 33.5in to 37.5in
  9. Also - the 1951 version was made from a lighter weight, softer material - very different from the 1952 type.
  10. Nice Steve - and from my local regiment! Any markings inside? I have an unissued version of one of these but markings are diffcult to distinguish and it is in a stupidly small size!
  11. Jon - would love to see photos as I have not yet come across a genuine issue item that has 'SAS' in the label. Having said that I didn't beleive in the existence of 1963 Pattern windroof trousers until I saw a pair a couple of weeks ago so I am always happy to be proved wrong!
  12. Steve - I think my 1952/53 gear is broadly the same as yours but I will double check to make sure. I have examples of the 52 'Parka Middle' and 53 'Parka middle with detachable hood' but have never seen or even heard of a camo version....that would be rare indeed! So am I to add the following to my rocking horse s**t list?!?: - 1963 Pattern Windproof trousers - 1953 Pattern Parka Middle - Camouflage :-D:-D
  13. Correct - no rank tabs on 'SAS' version only on 'Marine' version as per photos. Any rank tabs on SAS version would be later 'additions'.
  14. Nice Rory - particularly the prices you paid! Does the 68 pattern have a legible label? If so would be great to see a picture...
  15. From time to time I see examples of Desert DPM Para smock coming up for sale...again not nod issue but same spec as issue kit and they look great. So, in short, yes - there are a bunch of great 'unofficial' bits of kit out there. Jon - would love to have a chat so will try to give you a call one evening soon....
  16. Jon - I wonder if this may be a commercial copy. Lack of makers name or contract number is what raises suspicion....and believe me when I tell you I have learned the hard way on this!
  17. Steve - I have never seen or even heard of the 63 pattern in olive green. Do you have any photos of an example? At least in my experience this would be rarer than the DPM version!
  18. Does anyone know or have a sizing list for the pre-metric (ie SIZE only on label) tropical trousers. 53,60 and 68 all work to the 1-9 small, medium, large and short, average, tall logic and whilst the shirts seem to follow that system the the trop trousers are a law unto themselves eg I have a pair of size size 23 trousers that are not quite big (long) enough!! Any thoughts?
  19. Recent acquisition - and one that I know very little about. Any background, info much appreciated.
  20. I recall on here a thread discussing opinions of what would be the most rare item of issue clothing. The supposition was that if there was a pair of 1963 Pattern Windproof Trousers they may well qualify for 1st place.... Well I found this thread earlier today on another forum....still not 100% convinced but I am 110% intrigued!! http://iacmc.forumotion.com/t4658-rare-63-pattern-dpm-windproof-smock
  21. That is what I would wear in modern gear for a comfortable fit with plenty of room underneath, but in old sizes and patterns it was more of a try it and see! I can just about get away with 190/112 but it must be 190 as I am blessed(!) with the arm length of a gibbon!!:-D
  22. Point taken Steve - this just helps me with determining the difference between the earlier and later (post 84) versions. The whole 'year/pattern' approach is very misleading beacause, as you say, the patterns and years just do not match! I have tried (and failed) to explain this to folks on several occasions..!
  23. Size 5 equates to 180/104 approx in modern sizes. But these are windproofs so they come up pretty big. To give you an idea I am 6'2" and a 44" chest and they are big/loose on me.
  24. For interest - a comparison of 68 Pattern 'Marine' and so called 'SAS' type wind proofs. Both size 5 and both HE Textiles.... Marine pattern is lighter material on right. Main differences - rank tabs front and back and wired hood on 'Marine' version.
