  1. Good counsel Steve. Suggest we(I) stick to discussion of gear that is in the surplus market. MODS - please lock/delete this thread.
  2. That may well account for why they are so rare Dave!
  3. What would you consider to be a reasonable price to pay for a 190/120 latest issue MTP smock?
  4. MTP gear does seem to attract a premium at the moment!
  5. Dave - see this thread on the subject of DPM 63 pattern trousers. Could be a similar 'regimental tailor' incarnation but does get you thinking! http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?24738-1963-Pattern-Windproof-Trousers....!&highlight=1963+pattern
  6. Looks like the latest issue MTP is now in circulation (was expected from April 2011 onwards). The older issue MTP is the CS95 type clothing in MTP pattern and was produced as an Urgent Operational Requirement in Afghanistan. The mainstream issue of MTP will be in the new Personal Clothing System (PCS) which has a different design as per spec below. Interestingly it looks as many of the features of the new design are based upon the older CS95 'Smock Combat Windproof Modified (MK2) Woodland DPM'... Smock, Combat Windproof MTP. Fitted with: · Front slide fastener (zip) and touch and close (velcro) closure. · Attached hood and cowl. · Reinforcement panel on sleeves. · Bellows pocket on sleeves with touch and close fastening. · Underarm vent/opening with slide fastener. · Adjustable cuffs. · Bellows breast pockets with external compass pocket (left). · Bellows waist level pockets with internal hand warmer pockets. · Jetted opening to form map pockets in mesh lining with slider fastener and internal pen pockets. · Adjustable draw cords in hood, waist and hem. · Rank strap. · Blanking panels for touch and close patches on sleeve bellows pockets.
  7. It has been less than one day but I am really starting to dislike you Dave!!:-D Great photos though....and as much as it pains me to say....keep em coming. I also dropped you a private message (look at your notification tab at the top of the screen)....
  8. Welcome Dave! And as first posts go - that is a good one! Great example of something I never knew existed! Super photos as well - keep them coming....:-D
  9. Absolutely copies Steve I am just impressed by the efforts gone to to replicate the real thing. The giveaway other than the wording is the size 85/86/112 (apart from not existing as a size) is translated as 7080/9085!!
  10. Certain these are copies but it would be good to see the original NSNs and label description if anyone has them in a stores listing anywhere?
  11. You may be right! I have never even seen pictures of this kit let alone the real deal. The trousers you have Steve must be up there with the rarest of the rare... A few photos would be good at some point Steve!
  12. At the rate they seem to be appreciating you may well look back on that as a deal in the not so distant future! Would be good to see some photos. What isthe size?
  13. Does anyone have any reference NSN numbers and descriptions for the issue ripstop trousers?
  14. Thanks Steve! Sent you an e-mail on a separate item that i think you were looking for...not sure if still available or if indeed it was what you were after!
  15. As someone who will likely not be getting down there this year...lets hear about your Beltring finds...
  16. The most intriguing Ebay sale, in my view, was the chap who listed a WW1 machine gunners jacket (about a year ago now). He had found it in an allotment shed and it was in surprisingly good condition in spite of a few moth attacks. Selling price: £2100!!:nut:
  17. Incredible - and yes I think it is because of the size and condition - although £170 is still a hell of a lot of money for a cadet smock. Just goes to prove that something is as valuable as the market dictates.... Denison smock seems to be the hot item over the past year or two. They have been selling for silly money.
  18. Would love to however I am running short of 'militaria' credits (she used to call it 'camo porn') so will have to see what I can do... How about you?
  19. This doesn't surprise me Jon - I saw a 60 pattern dpm with exactly the same contract number as yours that was mint condition - I thought it may be a copy but after close inspection I was convinced it was a genuine 60 dpm and must have been a very, very late manufacture. Any thoughts on when manufacture ceased?
  20. Hmm - interesting. Here is a link to a 60DPM label over on Jon's Forces 80 site (hope you do not mind Jon!). It clearly shows a different contract number. Maybe a couple of different contract runs for Cookson & Clegg??? http://www.forces80.com/images/label66smock.jpg
  21. Steve - any chance you could dig out that Cookson and Clegg 1960 DPM pattern smock contract number from the label? I know I need to get back to you on the lined (or not!) 1952 pattern trousers however, rather embarrassingly I am not sure where I have put them:red:
  22. Thanks Jon - this is helpful. So size 27 biggest then....
  23. Jon - hadn't visited this sectio before - looks really good! Aware that you and I need to talk soon - did you still want some photos of the 53 pattern set?
