How come you blokes don't use silicon hose for peace of mind? Yes it is quite expensive, but I think good insurance given the age of your engines and the work required if one of them should blow a hose and boil (and warp). Chances are you would know the event has occured being that they are front engined, but one less stuck-by-the-side-of-the-road scenario.
Yuck !!!! how about they could fit a Ford Transit Diesel engine in for reliability ?

This is the 1st time I've been back to the forum since the upgrade 2/3 months ago & the 1st time I have updated any of my restoration projects.
Please tell me why the posts I put on a few hours ago about my Morris C8 conversion don't show up or at-least I cant see them !!!!!

It just goes to show, that upgrading does not mean that the forum is improved. In spite of the hints and tips on here it is still a clunky procedure and not half as simple and quick as before, or as other forums I use. There are features on this new format that are unnecessary and only help to confuse people. I cannot see that this is improved at all, improving should be simplifying, it is not very 'user friendly' at present.. There are a number of things that I am not happy about and I will not list here, but one that bugs me is having email notifications of replies in a thread I might have been using. On other forums you can have the feature either on or off. Now on this new format you have to click on every thread when you use it if you want it off. I do not wish for my email inbox to be cluttered up with replies when I can quite easily look at the forum when I wish to. Surely there must be an override setting to switch it off completely?
I have been a member of this forum since it was launched so quite competent in using it, but can well understand why members are not happy and drifting away.
Hi Richard nice reply.
I have just tried to send you a PM / message but it comes back that your not receiving messages ? Regards Ian

Thanks guys but to all those who are sadly complaining -
Jack were not complaining merely stating that we can't get to grips with the new format, there must be dozens that have 'voted with their feet' because they are just unable to get their heads round it & so you wont hear from them again I suspect ?
Have you progressed from the stage of removing a spark plug to a full engine rebuild yet ? No I guessed not & I cant get to grips with this new format.
I am stuck on a PM reply, it wont let me type a message as the sender has sent me a photo. This forum is so difficult to use compared to all the other forums I'm on.
You can see why more & more people are moving to facebook groups.
Regards Ian

I've thrown the towel in now, just cant get on with the new format which is a shame as I had a few restoration threads on the go which have progressed nicely lately and I would of liked to share buts that's not to be anymore on this site.

951xxxxxx Series III petrol 2286cc 3-bearing (fitted to 88 inch airportable) found information here:-
Cheers Guy : I was hoping it was a 5 bearing but that can be fitted later if necessary.

Next the laser cut plate which will join the land-rover engine to the Morris C8 gearbox.
The 2 rear engine mounts will be tack welded once its all bolted together & lined up.
At this stage the flywheel ect will not be fitted as the engine will need to come out 2 or 3 times while front & rear engine mounts are fabricated & welded.

OK parts arrived a few days ago.
1st the clutch which is a Series 2a flywheel that had a 9" spring pressure plate from the original engine (may fit a new flywheel as this one is badly worn)
Next the new pressure plate which is the bigger 9 1/2" diaphragm type from a series 3.
And lastly the new Austin Shearline friction plate which is 9 7/8" so needs about 1/8" taking off as its just touching the diaphragm.

Still cant get the hand of this new site, I've come back after a few months away but its driving me to despair !!!!
#1 Where do I find my started threads ?
#2 Where do I find my latest posts ?
I cant update my restoration thread's without looking back through thousands of posts, there must be an easier way ?
