Military madness days on 16th and 17th of September, just when Ive got a week off too! :-D
-
I was tempted to drive the Ruski tank, but didnt :banghead:. We'll be going back this year when I will get in one. It was dirt cheap I reckon though. FGrom what I remember about £25 for the T72(?) and about £10 for the recce vehicle. They bring the tanks out one day a week, drive them around and offer out rides. We went there in 2006, and want to go back there! Its a great little museum as well, and you can wander round their workshop/scrapyard. Its a good place for bits especially, Churchills, Sherman and Stolly's to name a few. :-D

Thought I would share a few pics (if Ive mastered photobucket right) I took at the Isle of Wight Tank Museum. One day in the week they run a few of the tanks around, and for a few pennies you can have a go at driving them.

Just watched (again) Band of Brothers episode Carentan. In the sequence where our BOB's get attacked first thing in the morning from the hedge on the hill there is a German tank I dont recognise. It is the heavy tank which is taken out by the 2 infantrymen using a PIAT. Does anyone know what it is? :dunno:
-
Ive just seen it , thanks for that.
-
And youve got artillery in the back yard... :schocked:...I need to emigrate...
-
Please tell me you havent got a starfighter in your back yard as well!! :schocked:

Supposing someone was considering buying a Ferret as their new vehicle, what advice would you give them on buying one and what are the good and bad points about them? 8-)
-
....see how they run........ sorry I meant drive away in a unified force of dignity (in their 2cv buggy).........

There is one on ebay, number 290068086119. Ive never seen anything like it!What on earth was it used for?? :what:
-
....... :-o........
...3 ferrets..... not just content with the one then! Ive still got the remains of my steel back, although it has been cut up. the floor was rotten but the sides were ok and original, so we cut off the sides and have them in storage. Am putting a wooden back on to start with. So if you need any measurements etc let me know, it is very heavy guage steel and wieghs a ton. ;-)

Have you ever been to Guernsey and seen the bunkers and towers that are still remarkably in one piece, or been for a wander around the Mira gun battery?
-
Why do they call you radar then...?! :-D
-
Are they the "wet" type lead acid batteries or dry cell? If they are not dry cell and you give me dimensions and terminal layout I may be able to give you a common UK reference number that you can use, I suspect they will be like a truck battery?
-
Looks like a few 4x4 clubs use that, maybe someone with links there could arrange a "Run what ya brung day" to put their pride and joys throgh what they were designed for, rather than sitting pretty in a workshop!! Or are you all scared of MUD! :-D :-D
-
Im flowing now.......has it got a website? :schocked:
-
Nice looking wagon John! Your front wheel arches look in very good nick. Were they like that when you got her or have you had new ones fabricated?
And you have a ferret as well, some people just dont know when to stop!
