  1. OK, the flag blew up acros the windscren, so came rapidly off! :D I also count about 100 vehicles, so I'll give you that as well. We had 90, but ours had more big ones!

Mind you if Condor had organised the Liberation, we'd still be waiting.

    I disagree

Condor whilst unable to sail from Poole because of the bad weather (Force 8 ish I think), still sailed from Portsmouth to Guernsey and unloaded their cargo destined for Guernsey at Portsmouth to accommodate the Military Vehicles.

They could have sailed with the commercial traffic and left us all on the quay... they didnt... so am unsure why you think we'd still be waiting?

The "P" above the WD broad arrow dates it to 1941. I believe this is the denim version of the windproof smock, rather rarer than the standard drab version and so worth rather more. I wouldn't care to try and value it, but on ebay with a proper description it should find its level. You'll probably find out more about it if you search on here.

    Cheers,

Agreed - definitely rarer than the drab version.

Ebay, but with a reserve... or good starting price... if you wanted to sell.

  3. punishment of criminals does not work, it has been shown time and time again to fail...we need to use other methods to stop this sort of thing...a rope with 13 hoops placed around the neck with a short jump is the best choice for most career criminals...not much else works......

They should be given useful work in the community - such as clearing land mines on the Falklands.

  4. Could somebody help me with identification of this stand. Something missing ther for secured standing.

Stretcher Stands - 2 per stretcher.

  5. These bits are from my local beach. A piece of LVT track and remains of an M4A4 Crab. The crab was clearing mines in 1946 when (so the story goes) it sank, the army shot at it a few times and blew bits off it with various demolition charges then cut it off just above the track/ground level, and left it. It was only visible at very low tides until excavated in the mid 1970`s, dad cut these few bits off before the rest was scrapped, oh the benefit of hindsight! Though the escape hatch will be fitted to our M4A4 one day.

Nice escape hatch... if you ever find yourself not wanting it (unlikely I think) it's on my "needs" list.

  6. Is this the sort of thing you mean?

Photo caption is "Safely on the ground - a gun crew of the 33rd Parachute Field Regiment of the Royal Artillery running to unlash their gun"

This is zoomed in a bit onto the load - the rest of the pic merely has more parachutes and men.

Thanks... Multibank may be a joy for the future... But first i want the rest done and driving.

I have that book thanks and several other docs from various sources.

Am sure it will eventually give me many hours of pleasure... When do we invade the Netherlands again?

    Cheers

  8. Something dodgy with the way this forum saves the message... they work fine everywhere else I post them.

    Trying again.
