I believe you can still pick the rims up but they can be expensive.
Backing bowls are available from Blanchards £45 + VAT per side and they should have the 3 adjuster screws.
You can fit aftermarket 7" headlights, I replaced mine with Wipac Halogen units so I could see where I was going
To remove headlights you push them in slightyl and turn anticlockwise and they should then pull off. The adjusting screws have backing springs and they hold them in place on a with a slotted mounting.
The rims are held together with J clamps. Do not lose them the only place I found selling them wanted way to much money for them
The fixings need to match 3 9 and 12 o'clock so civvy Land Rover units are no good but I believe you can get plastic bowls that work from other classic car part suppliers.

Blasting with corn flour is quite effective like soda blasting. Very gentle with none of the nasty side effects on aluminium. Or you could use plastic bead.
Hope that helps, Richard
corn flour supended in air is explosive.may remove more than intended.I believe they actually use baking soda by all accounts you can strip the paint off your car with the chrome and glass still in place with no damage.
Crushed walnut shells may also be an alternative.

There are some chunky, cast aluminium parts present on the frame. Will there actually be a perceivable loss of the alloy while it is soaking? Pitting or other loss? What sort of time frame might I be looking at?
Tom.
It will eventually disappear, it also produces hydrogen gas, that burns well.
Here is a video with aluminium foil.

Used to use caustic soda to decoke 2 stroke motorbike exhausts, evil stuff.
Do not use on aluminium or any aluminium alloys.
They have a habit of disappearing.
White vinegar is also quite good at cleaning stuff.

Fantastic job on the light.
You were brave to try beating a metal egg in the first place.
Final solution looks great.

Leaving aside any record of disposal for a moment - if there are records for all aircraft, there should therefore be some records which show some spitfires shipped to far east but not having any "career" so to speak. Or is that being too logical?
To apply logic you need a Vulcan

Marevlous isn't it? The airports shut, the trains shut, the schools shut, in London even the tube keeps closing bits! But people expect buses to run a full service on time! At least I have a week off starting Thursday so there should be a chance to get photos of the Dodges in the snow.I know what you mean Tony, the usual question is "why are you not going onto my estate, I have got to get home!!!" or "why are you late?" never mind that they are standing at a stop with the traffic hardly moving in front of them.
Best one I had was last year, heavy snowfall during day, got to travel private from one end of Stoke on Trent to the other to do a school run, (usually took me 15 mins with no traffic, took me nearly 1 hour) get to the school, Headmaster standing behind a huge pile of snow with a umbrella and his question was "why are you late?"!!!!!!!!!

What you guys need is one of these - everybody would be happy to stay behind you.

Finally we got some today in Sittingbourne, I was begining to feel left out. Still not very much, less than in Andy Fowlers picture.
I am told we should be grateful, snow is the only thing that settles in the UK and doesn't claim benefits :-D
Actually I work above a "Job Centre". Not quite sure why they call them that as they do not seem to find any for people.
The snow is queued right up to the door, goes for a good few miles.

Had a trip over Amersham way this morning and it was snowing quite seriously by the time I found the place I was headed for , around two inches deep by 10 ish . Coming back was entertaining and occasionally sideways towing my trailer but once on the M25 it became sporadic and after I hit the A12 there was nothing all the way back home . Looking a bit black out there now though .
Started at about 6.25 and was white by 9
I am a couple of miles from Amersham.
Seen at least 2 idiots with snow gloves/chains on the rear wheels of their front wheel drive vehicles.

According to Mr Cundall the archaeologists are looking in the wrong place.
Even though Mr Cundall was the man in charge and should have been telling them where to dig!
I believe the only bit they got right is the B
Rumour has it they are actually in Birmingham

Not quite
I popped over to the beach with oldest cubelet and the snow has started again!!! It's chucking it down now and I would be a silly riveter to go out in this just for wine. So it's 12 cans of John Smiths for me that I've just discovered laft over from Christmas, instead!!!!
Did not the cubed one get some snow chains for the truck?
I am sure he is just gagging for an excuse to try them out.
If so the wine run should not be an issue.
Remember you should not drink John Smiths from a wine glass, it does not work.
However a pint of Champagne does.
And I have my Friday snow so looks like Saturday sledging is on, once I have dug the car out of the way of the Land Rover.

You guys are lucky.
I think I have received some sort of threat.
I woke up this morning with a beefburger on the pillow next to me.

Snow is forecast for here from the early hours of tomorrow morning. This has triggered panic buying in the local supermarkets, Tesco has reported that it has been as busy as the pre- christmas period. What is the matter with people:???
Not just your area.
Thursday is our normal shop day, got there a bit earlier today.
Either there is panic buying going on or bread and milk now contain horse and have been removed from the shelves
And we are in civilized Bucks in M1/M25/M40 triangle.

Oy I heard that Mike............. LMAO
Then we both spend our time swearing about the structural engineer who insists the column needs to be in your doorway and its foundation blocking all my drainage routes.:-D
It is one of those life things, it just is bit like Land Rovers and Jeeps:-D
Mike

Civil engineer spending all my time designing roads and drains and cursing Architect's:D

He better watch the weather forecast, before you know it he'll get hit by a Hurricane.....
I have also heard that following a Typhoon there are quite often some nasty Mosquito's, but they are easier as they tend to find you.
Mind you if it is waterlogged a pair of Wellingtons would be useful.

You mean they are sending the "dancing diggers" for the press coverage:D

Been snowing here in Bucks most off the day.
Sadly it is the wrong sort of snow.
The ground was not frozen, it is to warm, it is turning to slush. there is nowhere near enough and it is a Monday.
What I want is freezing temperatures and 6 inches of snow over nifgt Friday and then I can get the Land Rover out and go sledging on a Saturday.

Wasn't that Charles Churches Lancaster at one point? It was due to fly before the Canadian Lanc did but for an unfortunate hangar accident (all from memory).
Which also made it the rx-Strathallen flyer.

I first started going to car shows in the early 80s with a VW Beetle, many of those would levy a charge, some were around £6-8 for the weekend. Never really objected as we went ahd had a load of fun and met loads of interesting people. In many cases it is probably good value for money as where else can you camp with friends for that little?
What I do object to is paying £5-10 to get into a pub on New Years eve.

Just imagine both UK Lancs flying together flanked by a Hurricane and a few Spitfires.
Goosebumps already...
That would be nice, even better one either side of the Vulcan.
However I doubt it will happen as BBMF do not seem to fly alongside "civilian" planes.
However I will settle for another flying Lancaster.
Just to whet your appetite here is a formation of 3 Lancs overflying a Hurricanes, 10 Spitfires and 1 Seafire
