Hey all
Got her started today but had to do a bit of surgery on the fuel system. The cork washer on the fuel tank selector switch has perished. Does anyone know of a good supplier for this part?
Cheers
Jim
These are readily available.
You have a choice
Pay a premium for a Land Rover tap cork seal
or
get a cheaper version for a Fergusen TE20/TVO tap

Ouch that feels painful just looking at it.
I think you need a fan shroud for the shopping list.
Makes changing drive belts a bit difficult but offers other benefits.
I also learnt this weekent that exhaust manifolds get very hot very quick.
Mike
PS: Don't seem to have a picture of the radio battery cover angle ob the computor.
-
Yep thats still there but I will need it to hold down the battery cover lol. I am thinking about relocating the batteries to under the passenger seat at some point to give more room in the back. That will be an after its on the road job though.
Cant wait to get behind the wheel!
It holds down the cover for the radio battery.
The vehicle batteries are in a seperate box.
Are you leaving yours winterised?
If not you could consider relocating to the standard FFR position between the front seats
You would of course need to track down cover etc.

All seems to be coming along nicely there.
I have one of those vacuum bleeders/testers as well.
Also had trouble with it on the furthest away one so resorted to the easibleed which needs air pressure, but nothing a flatish tyre cannot fix.
Got to do it all again as the end is not perfect and I am in the process of changing a cracked manifold.
Yes I have also found you need to jack the front of the truck into the stratosphere to do the downpipe.
Mine was originally replaced because it was almost as bat as yours. A flattened exhaust pipe must be standard military fitment.
The radio table mount brackets have strengtheners that are rivetted threough the tub base and maybe useful for whoever buys the bits.
There is also an angle on the rear of the bulkhead that held down the battery cover. Now those are pretty hard to come by, took me ages to get one.

That's why it takes me twice as long to go to W&PR using minor A roads or B roads than the "easy access" motorway which is very frightening.
Clive
You have probably taken the best option here as the M25 would extend this journey by at least 2 hours.

Sometimes I worry about taking my 109 out but I then decide that if the rest of the workd is in too much of a hurry to enjoy them selves that is their problem.
Over the years I have learnt that regardless of what speed you can travel at there is always some idiot who thinks it is not fast enough or that you are going to fast.
I have got to the stage that if I am on a 4 or 5 lane section of motorway travelling at the ridiculous speed of 55 mph in a series 3 land rover and some iddiot is one lane or more over doing 45 mph that I go by on the inside.
I went out to lane 4 once and it was the scariest thing I ever did and I was quite scared at 16 when I soloed in a glider.
just go out there and enjoy yourselve and your vehicle

To state the obvious - Do you have working bulbs?
There are some wiring diagrams here
http://www.land-rover-lightweight.co.uk/LRL%20M.html
Yes it may say lightweight but I have found them useful.
Note a 24v truck does not have a voltage stabiliser for the gauges as these diagrams show.
Remember this is a simple vehicle, there are no dual circuits,
Rear lighting loom runs down the left site chassis and enters the tub behind the nearside rear lights.
Thee is a removable panel in the back of the tool locker.
Indicators/hazards have a common wire after the switches somewhere behind the dash this takes the feed from the hazard and the stalk so the problem is probably somewhere there.
Wipers and washers are on the 3rd fuse.
Stop lights and hazards are on second fuse so that is OK if one works
I would take one items at a time and work through it methodically before going onto the next.
Good Luck

Looks like the old girl is happy in her new home as she has marked her territory.
So far mike has marked her territory with EP90 from the transfer box (ongoing) and rear axle (twice), the right front swivel hub, brake fluid, clutch fluid, engine oil and loads of flakey paint:cool2:
Is that your clutch fluid on the floor?

Blimey Mike that wing looks in better nick than he one I have just primed up on mine! :cool2:
Love the rust though I have plenty of that to share about as well
Looks can be deceiving. The front is caved in on a vertical to the right of the headlight as you look at it and the top has a 90 degree split beneath the TUAAM box.

As Neil has mentioned the most used is H.S.T. the others you will need are S.T and OFF
Simple to decipher.
H = Headlight
S = Side light (front)
T = Tail lights
Conv. = Convoy light (illuminates white differential cover on rear axle.

Have to admit - I personally think in the ex-mils look better without them. Do you have the mitary headlamps with provision for fitting the IR filters??I have no idea what any of that means lol
Lets put I simple.
The military headlights and bowls were different to civvy ones and the way the fit are different.
You have a series of metal rings around them which you can see in the pictures on your first post.
The outer most ring has 3 screws that were used to mount infra red lenses used in conjunction with night vision googles.
There was a toggle switch on the central light switch mounting which put the vehicle lights into IR mode.
With this type of headlight the plastic shroud does not fit as far as I can tell
Of corse the CL versions tended to have the as they were basically civvy ones.

Well I made it.
Weather was interesting, sun wind rain no wind sun
And for those who did not here are 2 BE2es in the air, well worth seeing an excellent sedate display.
Light grey cloud is awful for getting photos right and I do not really like hours of photoshop.
But you can get some good shots when the clouds are darker
Even better when they are very dark and the sun tries to shine.
Other than the weather the day was a bit spoilt by the landing mishap with the Sopwith Triplane, but pilot was OK

Coming along nicely.
I gave up counting the costs on mine when it started get silly.
But then adding radios and the numerous tools you seem to need it can get like that.
Mind you thinking about it that is where a load of it has gone.
I just stick all the receipts in a shoe box and might add it all up one day.
I might then add my time and then it would be really scary.
As for blood sacrifices I have made plenty of them.:cool2:

Alternatively you could carpet the land rover instead of repainting the inside:D
