  1. Tmahnks that is of help, Have had more time to look this weekent and there is a large amount of aerial cable behiind the seats. The good thing is that batteries charge.

Have been looking at eBay but most seem to have been stripped out and I need to be sure I get the right stuff.

Will probsbly have to get to a few shows/meetings to work out exactly what I need.

Still have plenty of other stuff to get working and no doubt extend the list of required parts.

although found various bits in the rear storage compartments, under the durbar plating, including missing tailgate chains.

  2. This could possible be under stupid questions but I need help with the recreation ot the Land Rover.

Have found many pictures of exterior but interior pictures seem to be scarce and I want it to be authentic.

I believe it is and FFR as it is 24V has what looks like bits of aerial cable and appears to have mounting brackets under the front wings. Previous owners have had fun, I think they wanted civvy spec but liked black and green paint. Most of the interior has been stripped out and replaced with durbar plating and what look remarkably like Fort Escort/Fiesta seats. However it is solid and has MoT.

Being new to MVs I have no idea what is missing and what parts I am going to need to find

Have attached a few pictures to show you what I have (or mainly have not got) to start with.

    1. Under front wings (aerial mounts?)

    2. Holes in rear above and just in front of rear wheels (what went here)

    3. The lvely durbar plating (must go) and batteries in the rear.

    4. The seats and the missing battery cover/compartment.

Any assistance/advice would be greatly appreciated.

  3. How about copyright when someone takes a pic. of me with MY camera?

Or other pics for that matter with MY camera?

As a keen photographer and have read alot about this over the years and basically "the copyright of a photograph belongs to the photographer". The photographer is the person who takes the pfhotograph, regardless of who's camera it is.

When putting pictures on the internet I tend to use small/low resolution jpeg files. Good fr upload and view fine but if somebody wants to print large they are no very good.

I also take photographs for my enjoyment and to share with like minded people, as such I do not generally worry to much about them being copied, but would of course appreciate the credit for the picture.

I would of course expect to be paid for any photographs used for commercial purposes. However I do not actively seek to do this as it would turn my hobby into a job, at which point I would probably lose interest.

As such I feel that the forum's photograph rules are appropriate and fair.

There are many photographic competions being run/sponsored by big 'reputable' companies that expect entrants to hand over all copyright to the organisers/sponsors for them to do as they wish (including commercial gain)

    Hope this helps

  4. Never really worried about fuel prices. But with a Land Rover and a car I think I need to paymore attention (lucky enougth to walk to work:-D). Never fill up in Chesham though its normally 5p/litre cheaper 10 mile down road.

However when you check the breakdown of prices it would appear that we are paying VAT on the fuel duty.

    Tax on 'tax'

Wouldn't mind if they used the money to do something other than bail out bankers and install more pot holes.

  5. Many thanks for the welcome.

so far I have fixed brake lights, somebody had badly adjusted switch.

As promised I have taken some pics of how it is.

    Chassis and mechanicals seem fine.

Just needs the dash sorting, no working gauges or lights (speedo Ok).

Interior needs a bit of work, seats make refuelling interesting.

  6. I will post some pics as soon as I get some daylight as I need to take some for record purposes, insurer etc.

Mind you it probably looks better in the dark.

Have just found out the brake lights don't work, when driving, suspect the switch as they worked before engine was started.

Oh well jusy anothe electrical glitch to sort out.

The to do list is getting longer.

Suppose it will keep me outside and busy.

  7. Well after a bit f deliberation I have gotten a military vehicle.

So I am new to military vehicles and also web forums.

My first choice would have been a Spitfire but funds could not stretch that far.

A pilot's licence would also have been usefull.

So I have settled for a Series 3 Land Rover 109" (an FFR I believe) with the intention of returning it back to how it was in its earlier life with a fully documented rolling restoration. Not to showroom condition though, after all it has had a life.

The intention is to take it to shows.

Hopefully will be diligent to record everything for future refernce and aid to others.
