Interesting film apart from the "........." so called music at the end, why do they do it ?
It has nothing whatever to do with what is on the screen.

As regards the location you are quite right, I have got the names mixed up in my mind.
Stainmore; I have swanned about on there during day and darkness, one time with a dead chicken in my 'large pack'. Its rough ground but certainly no armoured vehicles lying around.
Back to the thread, there was/is a rumour that in the forrest ther was another Churchill, but due to the densness (sic) no-one could find it. It was derilict like this one and the trees had been planted all around it.
Can you throw any light on this other one ?

02 ZR 36......and all the petrol had to be tipped out of the tank so that we could get it in the car.

I am afraid that photographs do get modified to make them look better. That chap in the Great War who was on the Polar expeditions did it, but I forget his name at the moment.....

Top pic is a veiw from an OP looking down on the entrance to a bulk fuel depot. The two have a LMG, 5/8 Kings did not have this weapon so thy must be of the attached from DLOY for Crusader 80.
The question where was the depot ? I recall the name sounding like Varendorf ???
Its 30 years ago so might be way out but I am sure some ex Regs will know.

In a previous post I said that i would post some more pics of 5/8 Kings on Ex Crusader that took place in 1980. I now have a scanner working.
Top one is at Altcar Rifle Range before going on to Manchester Airport. The lower one
shows Sgt's Edwards and Forrester and Cpl Peacock, I forget the others on the left, at
a large ammunition storage complex in Germany. Note the now old fashioned SLR, early BFA's
puttees and clean boots.........

don't be sad about the chieftains being on the range, you can guarantee that in 50 years when chieftains are rare that some poor misguided fools will attempt to recover and restore them.

I recall thet the steel was very thick, it can be seen in the photo
Perhaps the old gentleman at The Library, Tank Museum would know more ?

Diagonal white stripe starting top left usually represents GHQ or Line of communication units. Cant find any reference to the number 1898.
If it is an Albion BY5 then it should be an FBE lorry - This should be the only role in which Albions were used in 21st Army Group but there's always the exception which proves the rule.

I forgot to say that this would be in Holland or Germany. My dad said he was in Dempsys 2nd Army. So that ID's the shield. Can anyone confirm that it is an Albion ?

I have been trawling my archives and I think that these and other photos may give an insight into a TA unit deploying for Crusader 80 in BAOR.
The unit is 5/8 Kings and is shown leaving Peninsular Barracks, Warrington for Manchester
Airport in the late summer 1980.
Thirty years ago, where did the years go ?

Can you give us an indication where to look on Google-earth ?
I have had a scan about near Ecclesfield school (s) and can see nothing that
resembles to hut foundations that you mentioned

I have got the number from the Instruction Book which on page 120 gives that type.
There is no T after the B.
However the book could be in error if there is such a CAV regulator as you mention.

My CDF has a CAV dynamo Type D.B.N.B 122 but came with a Lucas voltage regulator.
Now I have been informed that these two are not compatable. I rearly need a CAV voltage regulator Type 75/B-19X, has anyone got one or can point me in the right direction to
obtain one ?
Is it a myth that a CAV dynamo and Lucas regulator cannot be made to work together ? Both these on mine were not connected when I purchased it.
Any help appreciated.
