  1. Really grateful for the replies. I have just been offered this - how much cash should I offer? What would be fair? Thanks again, chaps. Regards, Mark.
  2. Thanks guys, really appreciate the help - the picture is great. Anyone have any idea of value ?
  3. A friend recently found this and sent me pictures - I advised him to buy it because I thought it may be an Airbourne Para cart. However, After a bit of interweb research, it seems another possibility is a Machine gun cart? Or, of course it, may be a milk trolley from the 1960s. Can anyone confirm what it is - and, what should I offer for it ? Thanks, regards- Mark. I should mention that the tyres are made by Dunlop, and are marked 'Hand cart'
  4. Great pictures boys - love 'em. I done a few over the years.
  5. Video for your amusement............ Something went wrong...
  6. What a great couple days - :-D A totally fantastic location, lots to do for those in your group that are not as 'army barmy' as yourself. Exceptional quality vehicles on display in ideallic surroundings. DUKWs taking the plunge, and motoring up the lake - Fantastic, interesting, informative free lectures and slide shows featuring the history of the lake - the Duplex Drive testing, development and later - the training centre. .................and of course many familiar friendly faces - Adrian and the magnificent Sherman was there too. The organisers are to be applauded - a big personal thanks to Stuart :-) and his team. Personally, I made a complete fool of myself, on the maiden voyage of my home made Schwimmwagen replica. In my eagerness to storm down the ramp - I completely forgot to engage the slideing crank drive for the proppeller. Having entered the water in a fantastic splash - my second mate Jimmy Harlston, lowered the prop................and nothing ! ! Visiters were treated to the site of 'Two little injuns' paddleing for shore - fighting the not inconsiderable head wind. Eventually we made landfall, a rope was ashore - and Jimmies Dad tugged us out on to dryland - of course we all laughed it off. The crank was engaged, and the next voyage was a huge success. Jimmy was rewarded by becomeing chief Schwimmer test pilot for the day, and completed many successful trips around the lake. Just a few snaps from the day, I will upload video as soon as it is back from the Chemists (yes, I am that old)
  7. See you there Jimmy - taking the Replica Schwimmwagen, hope to take the plunge on a maiden voyage.................bring your video, you may make a couple hundred quid from that 'You been framed' outfit on the TV....... Regards, Mark. P.S. If the weather is fine, I'm camping - SAS style...........Stella and Sausage.
  8. That is amazing :wow:...........I had no idea Hitler designed the Morris Minor !
  9. Yep, your right - I need to get some idea of costs up. The site does need tweaking in a lot of ways - but I am not so good with computers and this is my first attempt. Lots to do, and comments like yours are very helpful - I will get a price up as soon as I can, the hold up is an accounting one - all to do with VAT. I will not bore you with it, but rest assured I will put one up as soon as my accountant has had a reply from the VAT office, and I have benifit of that proffessional advice.
  10. Yep Your timing is impecable - launched the website today. Have a peek and let me know what you think http://www.schwimmwagenreplica.com/
  11. Wow - never seen that 'square' prototype befor  That is a stunning picture. I have plans to make a 128 replica next, not exactly a prototype, but a rare beast and a proper challange. Thanks for posting those pictures.
  12. That is a nice comment GiE - but mine do look like that befor they get the two-pak filla prima treatment This is a great thread - that 52 dub is a pearler, great job indeed Hey BP, I'm still waiting to hear from you about them bits dear boy
  13. Funny you say that - here are the preliminary sketches of what I have been dreaming up. The initial calcalations of weight displacement ratio lead me to believe the water line will be about three inches under the fenders - that is after I drew the side bouyancy tanks (MKIII), but without taking into account the floatation tyres. I took a guess they will look after themselves and neither contribute or have a detrimantal effect. The MKII version, was the 'troop carrier' version with the roof removed and a canvas covered role frame. Your thoughts boys.
  14. Phil, I have no idea about the other vehicles TBH, any less valuable vehicle in this condition just would not be worth the effort. I just got a gearbox caseing to replace the melted one you would weep if you knew what I had to pay. The reduction boxes are fine - the wartime ones are steel. Regards Mark.
  15. Yep - It was a bit of fun, Location catering wasn't up to normal standards though Loads of nice looking girls though :cool2:

Hey, want to hear a funny story ? I was really saddened to hear about this memorial being vandalised. Being a member on another forum, and feeling the need to spread the story, I started a thread there about the memorial, including photographs obtained from various souces. I was really surprised and impressed that although that forum does not have a 'military' theme and is mostly frequented by youngsters - they were outraged. Not only that but the offers of financial help were overwhelming. One guy that headed up the forum offered to pay for a replacement outright from his own pocket. He asked me to find out who to give the money to - a few weeks and many enquires later I managed to get a few contact details. I imagined that they would have been pleased to have a benifactor step forward with an offer of finacial support - instead there only interest was getting 'unauthorised pictures' removed from the forum ...................... ...........................like I said, funny story.

Who is heading up fund raising? Who do I contact for arranging a donation ?
  18. Yep 2 years condensed into less than 9 minuets Do you guys think that a short movie is better than stills ? or would it be more interesting with loads of stills ?
  19. Yep, seen this one in the 'flesh' - the transformation is quite remarkable. A couple of very determined, commited and enthusiastic restorers at work here. Well done chaps, a fine job indeed................Regards Mark.
  20. Hi Adrian, sorry to say they are long gone - I think Eddie had them for some obscure piece of British hardware.
  21. Thank you Airborne, I did the work all on my own - but had a proffessional mechanic check and test run, and tune the engine. I guess the project took about 2 years of spare time work. The first outing was Beltring when I picked up first prize. The most recent outing was Beltring this year - I was very pleased to get a first again. No, I will never swim it - it is most likely the best preserved and most original example left, that is why I built a replica Schwimmer - so I can play in the water
  22. Thank you Airborne, Yes, I do have some good pals in this hobby - thanks to Micky, Smithy and Oaf - a project like the HT it is inevitable that help will be needed. Thanks again, regards Mark.
  23. Sorry chaps, I accidently made this thread in this wrong section - it is a duplicate posting of another in the 'restoration section' Would some kindly mod with the power to weild the 'cyber axe' remove this thread, Sorry, regards Mark.
