  1. Hi Chris... Engine is fine. I have two of those very small "original" Headlamps... but the one needs a sealed beam unit...which seam to be quite rare and then very expensive ! Just been looking at your Mutt photos.. you do love a challenge. Can wait to see the finished item... I'm sure it will be superb. Paul
  2. After two years my Striker is pretty well finished (I don't think it will ever be completely finished !) Had a very good drive today.... sounded and drove very well. Full restoration in photos can be found on Flicker at Paul
  3. Check out my Youtube Channel at http://www.fullchat.co.uk That link seems not to work... this should http://www.youtube.com/user/PaulNDonovan I have recently added a few more Abbot videos.... including the re-fitting of the K60 Powerpack.... and the Engine running outside the vehicle.... sounds great !
  4. Many Thanks for that. I'll let you know what I find..... will be a couple of weeks before I get chance to remove the head.
  5. Richard.... Compresion test shows No 3 Cyl well down (45psi) all the others are around 150psi -- so definate valve issue !! Regards Paul
  6. Thanks for that I'll give it a go !
  7. Operation Gate... Get Abbot To Evesham Filmed in 1994. Abbot (03DA30 - believed a prototype) was purchased from Jacksons and had spent some time at a friends Garden Centre, where there was a bit of space to drive it. It was in pretty good condition with a new powerpack... looked as if it had been overhauled recently. I decided to move it to covered accomodation to complete the restoration... mainly just painting. I got a good deal when i purchased it as it sometimes would not start... this turned out to be the starter motor which was loose ! However prior to the move the starter would not engage at all. Friends rallied round and a Diamond T turned up to give it a bump start.... See the video on youtube.. More videos to follow.. including power pack removal - to sort starter motor.
  8. Thanks for that.... I have previously removed the commanders seat mount.... which is basically a 12inch access cover in the lower fuel tank. There was very little sediment etc in there. All the 13 year old fuel was removed and fresh fuel put in. The fuel pressure at the carb is fine. Anyhow events have moved on... compresion test yesterday revealled No3 Cyl at 45psi... with all the others around 150psi... so stuck valve. Frustrating as the engine seemed to run fine when starting prior to any road use... see following two short videos. Both of these runs were with fresh fuel gravity fed from a small tank. However.... I initially, for some stupid reason, left the old (13yrs) fuel in the tank for the first proper short road runs. This certainly seemed to leave a very lacquer like deposit inside the new carb. I then replaced the carb and removed all the old fuel. Could this fuel have gummed up a valve in the few short runs.. I think it is possible. Will try a fuel additive before anything alse.... worth a shot. Chris ... thanks for your response also.
  9. Major rebuild over last 14 months. Ex Witham J60 fitted - which appeared to run fine before it was fitted into vehicle. Most engine ancillaries are new... HT Leads, Coil, distributor etc. Had new carb... which i have replaced with another new carb... to eliminate fuel issues. New fuel pump, lines and filter. See video on youtube taken today. Goes quite well considering its probably running on 5 cyls. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95w0ka97dnw I'm thinking sticking/dropped valve... so compression test next. Any ideas guys....:nut:
  10. When I registered my CVRT Striker recently the Guy at the licencing office went through the form with me. He was unsure about what to put as body type... he showed me a list of options.. none of which really applied... the nearest one that seemed sort of logical was "special mobile unit" so this is what we went for !!!
  11. Hi Guys.... I registered my FV433 Abbot no problem, in Worcester, some time ago. Two months ago registered a CVRT Striker... with no problem at all. you may find this entertaining....
  12. Hi... where are you based ? They are a BMW Dealer... so money may not be an issue !! Paul
  13. Can anyone help ? I have a client who wants to hire a Tracked, Armoured vehicle (and Driver) for a couple of hours (11.00hrs ish) on the 16th June. Location: Near Betws-y-Coed. vehicle to be driven along a short forest road to deliver my clients to a "Outward Bound" style corporate team building event. They will pay whatever costs are required - transport etc. Originally they were going to pay to transport my CVRT Striker from the Midlands to Wales.... BUT I now cannot do it for them. There must be someone more local to Betws-y-Coed who can do it - hopefully. Call me (07879 811130) or email for further info. Thanks Chaps Paul
